...the IRS targeting scandal was driven by Valerie Jarrett’s office in the White House...

Of course it was. Obama abdicated the Presidency to her from the beginning. That is how he can play golf all of the time. This information has been available from WH insiders all along.

Hmmmmm ..?? Maybe she forgot .. according to the Constitution (which she hates), JUDGES CAN BE IMPEACHED.

All it takes is a Justice Dept that works for the people.

Good post. The fact that both Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin are coming in to Kansas to campaign for Pat Roberts says alot about Roberts solid conservative credentials. The “He’s a RINO” crowd conveniently ignores that glaring reality.

“Funny how he only mentions this as a last-ditch desperate attempt to avoid defeat.

Where has he been for the past six years?”

The same place Ted Cruz and Mike Lee has been, powerless in a Senate controlled by Hairy Reid!

“Under Article II, Section 2 of the United States Constitution which states that the President “shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment”.

“The U.S. Supreme Court has interpreted this language to include the power to grant pardons, conditional pardons, commutations of sentence, conditional commutations of sentence, remissions of fines and forfeitures, respites, and amnesties.”

This is important, in that the anti-Federalists were right, that the authority to pardon is subject to abuse.

However, the constitution is simple, that the president can only grant reprieves and pardons. All other acts can be limited by congress.

This means that congress may create rules under which the president *cannot* order the remission of fines and forfeitures. In this case for criminal acts against citizens.

Of course the rules for this would have to be carefully tailored, but then be a ‘sword of Damocles’ hanging over the heads of corrupt federal officers, agents and employees.

So imagine Valerie Jarrett facing fines of $20m for her crimes?

Roberts should have said this earlier. We need this kind of articulation year round and not just 4 weeks before a tough election.

That said, the only Republican senator I don't support this election cycle is McConnell.

Not sure I know where you are going with this. If it is a RINO hunt, that ship has sailed. The primaries are over. Our only choices are, do we want Ted Cruz, probably the best hope for saving this country in the minority where he will be marginalized or in the majority, where he will have a voice?

I don’t know the dynamics of the senate, so maybe someone can explain. Can every Repuboican sponsored bill that Harry Reid killed be brought back up by the new majority leader?

Okay .. where I’m coming from: I believe that no matter whether you have a majority or minority control of any part of the admin - you must speak up. There is no reason to be cowed just by the simple idea that the majority rules everything. They won’t - if the minority will speak up and tell the truth.

Always remember, it was Pelosi who was always bellowing about the “tyranny of the minority”. She obviously forgot about it when she reached the majority.

I’m not positive, but I believe all the bills that the House has sent to the Senate can be brought up again. And, if the dems have a cow over it (and there is clear law regarding it) .. let the House vote again, because now that “Aye” vote will be even larger with more repubs in the House.

You need to learn how to grade your RINO’s - you are conferring more “RINOism” to Roberts than he deserves. But hey, you get to keep your angry Freeper cred.

The “he’s a RINO” crowd would rather make themselves feel self righteous in kind of a sick self gratification way than actually have adult conversations about which estab folks we should sink and which ones we need to win.

It’s a valid topic, and I don’t mind some disagreement, but most of this crowd brings nothing intellectually or strategically to the conversation.
