Leon Panetta—Hero or Villain?
PJ Media ^ | 10/7/14 | Roger L Simon

Posted on 10/08/2014 10:11:13 AM PDT by Lakeshark

Former CIA director and SecDef Leon Panetta has been all over television the last couple of days, from the Today show to The O’Reilly Factor, flogging his new book Worthy Fights. He has been saying a lot of bad things about Obama and his administration — the weakness vis-a-vis ISIS and Islamic terrorism in general, the absurd pretense that al-Qaeda (and consequently Islamic extremism) had been defeated, the prevarications (polite term) about Benghazi, etc. — that many of us, to say the least, rather strongly suspected.

He has appeared extremely worried about the future of our country and the world, as he well should be. And all of this has been given extra gravitas because Mr. Panetta was very much an insider to nearly all the important foreign policy decisions until recently. He was there.

It’s good that we know all this, or some of it, now, but I must ask the obvious question that even Bill O’Reilly omitted — or felt it impolite to ask. Mr. Panetta, why didn’t you do something about it at the time? Yes, I know you made your pitch — as you say others did — and the president just couldn’t be moved. But if that was the case, why did you stay there?

Panetta, pretending he and Hillary were not there. It's the attempt to exonerate the democrats from what they've done, pretend they didn't approve of it at the time. Like all good leftists, he's just trying to blame someone else. Good article, good questions.

Panetta is one of that group of ‘rat insiders, along with the likes of Holder and Gorelick, who are always in the proximate shadows of a disaster yet somehow escape with clean skirts only to reappear at the next.

If Panetta had an honest bone in his body or one DROP of integrity, he would have resigned and spoken out AT THE TIME< rather than wait to sell his damned book! (SPIT!)

Absolutely. It doesn’t take a lot to show all dems linked to the idiocy of the bamster. They all need to necklaced with the bamsters idiocy being agreed with by all of them at the time.

Panetta is looking out for Panetta, and no one else. He is no hero.

I'm not so sure.

The book seems to be having quite an impact.

He’s being a bag man for the dems attempt to pretend these horrendous policies weren’t agreed to by all of them. With the media’s help, he may even succeed.

Panetta is a liberal company guy. If he had integrity, he wouldn’t have worked for the Clintons and certainly wouldn’t have returned Obama’s calls when he offered him the job.

Sigonella is closer to benghazi than Tripoli and our Naval Air Station there was at Leon’s command -.not a single plane was launched.

Leon did nothing as those men fought to their deaths, broadcast in HD drone to Leon.

Leon was an Army Intel guy and his son is a Navy Intel guy.

He’s reconstituting himself and getting ahead of Gowdy’s investigation. This doesn’t help Hillary at all.

I had always considered Panetta as just another a Clinton Democrat political hack.

However, in his jobs at Defense and CIA he seemed to rise above his partisan political roots and seemed to genuinely try to do the best job he could for the country and executed his duties competently - at least relative to the rest of the incompetent Obama hacks

Panetta was a bright spot in the Obama Administration, even if only in relative terms.

Might I suggest t5hat you all THOROUGHLY read this article?
Panetta may be a demRat - but he does love this country.

Excepts: “Jarrett, and the president, did not know is that Leon Panetta had already initiated a program that reported to him –and only him, involving a covert on the ground attack against the compound...”

“...Obama was “overruled” by military/intelligence officials regarding the decision to send in military specialists into the Osama Bin Laden compound. Was that accurate?A: I was told – in these exact terms, “we overruled him.” (Obama) I have since followed up and received further details on exactly what that meant, as well as the specifics of how Leon Panetta worked around the president’s “persistent hesitation to act.”

Panetta is throwing out the dots - put them together.

I’m sorry to disagree. He’s simply attempting to separate himself, Hillary, and all other demonrats from what they themselves have done. It’s the first step in pretending they didn’t agree with his policies, even though they helped implement them. They’re simply trying to escape the consequencces of their own beliefs. If he, or Hillary, had actually loved their country, they would have resigned and campaigned against this garbage.
