Ninth Circuit Strikes Down Gay-Marriage Bans in Idaho, Nevada
WSJ ^ | 10/7/14 | Jess Bravin

WASHINGTON—The San Francisco-based Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday struck down same-sex marriage bans in Idaho and Nevada, setting the stage for legal gay marriages in five more Western states.

The unanimous decision comes a day after the U.S. Supreme Court let stand lower-court rulings that ended bans in five other states, a move that effectively expanded the right to gay marriage to 30 U.S. states. The Ninth Circuit decision will apply to five states with marriage bans in that appellate circuit, likely expanding to 35 the number of states with legal same-sex marriage.

Ummmmmm in Roe v. Wade the Burger court had 6 Judges appointed by Republicans.

Current court has 5. Lesson, Republicans suck at partisanship and are political idiots, especially in power. Listening to or adhering to "moderates" makes you stupid; same as voting for moderates as well.

This issue is lost. It won’t be long and there will be NO politicians railing against gay marriage. It has been poorly handled politically speaking and the momentum is unstoppable IMO

Well, they did want progressives/democrats wanted, therefore, that makes them progressives, remember communist rule number 15: Capture one OR BOTH of the political parties in the United States.

The perverts have won - America is lost to the culture rot and no amount of Republicans sent to the District of Corruption will alter this slide into the sewer.

God certainly doesn’t need government for Him to recognize a marriage.
I’m pretty sure Adam and Eve never got a certificate.
I think you are on to something.
What would the left do if Texas (or another state) simply repealed their marriage laws?
As a defense attorney I know that might cause some problems regarding spousal communication privilege, etc. But how else do we tell the courts to F off?
I was under the impression for a while that SCOTUS was issuing stays until it can be resolved by them, but maybe Kennedy finally did what he was always going to do.

Heck, the Republicans have even assisted in America’s slide into the sewer! America is now first and foremost a pervert-nation. A putrid disgrace to all the people who made it, built it, and set down roots, over the past two centuries.

I used to think the GOP at least represented my views and my values. Wasn’t that long ago, you’d be hearing about “family values” and such from them at the conventions and the stump speeches. Ha, what lying bastards they turned out to be! The same crumbs who vehemently say they’re against amnesty and against Obamacare, and then do everything they can to keep them alive.

Today the forced baking of a homosexual wedding cake. Or else civil fines are imposed and mandatory re-education classes are ordered as a punishment and reminder.

Tomorrow homosexual mandatory legal marriages in all 57 states. This is why even the smaller on local levels fights against the homosexual takeover agenda of our nation MATTERS.

Oh and Roberts as Chief Justice? "W" likely had some reliable insight on how he would come down on social pro-liberal issues when he picked him and set the tone of the court for the next 30-40 years.

What if a state simply stopped collecting marriage records, leaving it entirely up to private religious institutions?

The IRS would have a hissy-fit.

Actually it has been worse than the days of Sodom and Gomorrah because for the last 40 years we have lived in a land that sacrifices the unborn and unwanted born for the god of convenience.

Do not be surprised at anything you see or hear. Just be sure to be among those who are sealed by God before His wrath is unleashed.

Exactly. That’s what should be done. The left does not like this idea, at least the ones I know.

And all it would take is one state to unravel the whole mess, since it would show the path for others.

The “marriage equality” groups couldn’t object, since it would be equal treatment under the law.

And neither could the courts compel a state to license and record marriages.

Once the first gay coupled was legally married, it was a done deal. The fight for the First Amendment is the one we all need to wage now. Either we can speak freely or not. We can associate freely or not. We can run our churches freely or not.

Homosexuality is a judgement on America.

This needs to be pointed out consistently - homosexuality will not just bring judgement upon our country; homosexuality IS the judgement. Romans 1:26 starts with “For this reason” and continues “God gave them up to vile passions.” “..men with men committing what is shameful”; so this is a judgement upon our society.

It also continues and says that they give approval to others for more and more evil acts. We see this today with our legislatures accepting homosexual marriages and the teaching of it as acceptable in the schools.

Note also that Romans 1:32 points out that those who approve of such conduct are just as guilty as those who engage in it.

Well to be exact, in Roe the vote was 7-2, with Blackmun (Nixon appointee) writing the majority opinion, and the two dissenters were Rehnquist (Nixon) and White (JFK).
When the court reconsidered Roe in PP v. Casey (1992) the court (in conference voted to overrule Roe 5-4 with the votes of Rehnquist, White, Scalia, Thomas, and Kennedy.
Rehnquist as Chief assigned the majority opinion to himself.
Within mere weeks of the opinion being released Kennedy sent a note to Blackmun saying he was rethinking his vote. Blackmun smile and scribbled a note that said “Roe sound”.
On the eve of the opinion being released the story is that Scalia went to the home of Kennedy and made a last ditch effort to change his mind- to no avail.
Kennedy is a scourge on this nation and has been for a long time (since 1987 IIRC).
In fairness to Reagan who nominated him, he was the third choice after Bork and the male Ginsberg were voted down by a strong Dem majority in the senate.
The court has been all politics since.

Race is covered specifically in the 14th Amendment, but “sexual orientation” isn’t.
They aren’t the same analysis.

No more marriage licenses. Problem solved.

And lose all of that revenue? Because THAT is all they care about anyway.

Nobody elected these left wing, black-robed fascists to write law. You US marshals protecting these traitors best start thinking real hard about which side you’re on. “Following orders” will never work.
