Actually I’m as far away from a marxist as you can possibly imagine. I just don’t like people dumping the consequences of their decisions and actions on me.
It’s freedom WITH responsibility that I favor. You on the other hand seem to want to let people do whatever the hell they want and pass the consequences to the rest of society. No thanks.
People want to do dope fine. But don’t expect me to pay for their rehab, or unemployment, or whatever else they get themselves into.

Well, back in the day, I was working a full time job as a welder and was always broke, due to my drug habit.
Eating sugar won’t make one hallucinate, impair driving, or attack someone. What about PCP and other drugs that cause violent behavior?
It seems there is no turning back on the increasing use and availability of drugs, but it could destroy society. How many big cities now have addicts lying around with no hope and no future? For that matter, all the teen and college age binge drinkers are pickling their brains. a large portion of the populace spending as much of their waking hours as they can drunk or high does not bode well for our future.

For whatever reason, I drew the line at sticking a needle in my arm. Not that I didn’t have the dubious pleasure of observing people putting a needle in their arm. I also got to see the disgusting side effects of junk cut with less than wholesome ingredients.

I would say 99% of pot consumption is smoked not eaten so that point seems academic. Pot is some nasty stuff and can’t be good for your lungs. Not sure I buy that study you read.

All that was going on before. No chronic users are buying from the legal stores because the prices are so high. The other day not only were there no lines at the Prosser, WA. store, there was only one customer in the area. The business was having to cut the price on one strain to move it before it dried out too much.
I am in total agreement. Freedom of choice means you have to take responsibility for your actions and their consequences. Believe me, I think people on welfare should be drug tested 6 ways to Sunday There is something really wrong with a country where employers drug test but welfare agencies do not.
I do not believe that I am an “economic unit” which is just a euphemism for a slave. I cannot stand being paid w2 because the government gets MY money before I do. I don’t owe the federal or any state government shit unless I am using a public service, utility, or goods and then I am fine paying a toll or fee.
The only business government should be in is national defense, law enforcement, and public works such as highways, dams, etc. anything else is theft and coercion.

Although most potheads are also drunken cigarette smokers, pot is not alcohol or tobacco. And they speak of Liberaldopian freedom. Maybe they should be free to have some unlabeled krokodil with their next vaccine.

Saw a lot of marijuana leaf sketched and doodled onto losers' school papers over the years I've spent as a HS teacher. Never once saw a beer can drawn on a student's, oops! pupil's paper.
MJ is a cult drug with a heavy following among the nation's bottom-third (and growing), made up of losers and dropouts.
Beer and MJ are nowhere near the same level of threat to the fabric of society.
Hard cases make bad law.
Besides, “medical marijuana” laws are just the gateway for overall legalization.
By societal costs I meant costs to you and me as individuals who make up society.
There is a limit to my libertarianism, though. How about yours. Do you favor laws against drunk driving. Or street sign laws?
