Its time for Culture War II, since we have lost we have lost Culture War I. How did we lose it? By giving ground to our opponents. Compromise. Caving in. “Its not an important issue” mentality. That’s how we lost. How can we win a culture war by giving up on important moral issues like life and marriage? We can’t. If America is lost, its because we “live and let live” a depraved crowd who won’t let *us* live.

We lost the Culture War by not fighting it. The battlefield in the culture war is not laws and regulations. It is the arts and entertainment, and especially popular or pulp entertainment, the primary way by which culture is passed on in our society.

IOW, mostly TV, movies and music. Those media have been almost entirely abandoned by conservatives for at least four decades.

Do I think it's a good thing that these are the primary transmission belts for our culture? I certainly don't. But that doesn't change because I don't like it.

In a democratic society, the government exists to give the people what they want. So the only really important question in politics and society is, "What do the people want?"

That is not affected by laws or argument.

As an example, Will and Grace and hundreds of TV shows and movies over the last few decades with lovable and cuddly gay characters, contrasted with ugly, bigoted and unpleasant ant-gay characters, had infinitely more to do with the loss of the gay marriage fight than any article, evidence or argumentation.

Much less laws or referenda. A Culture War must be fought in the Culture, not in legislatures or courts.
