God Save Us from the Loud 'I'm Staying Home This Year' Conservatives

By Jim Geraghty

A few thoughts from the middle of the day . . .

God save us from self-professed "conservatives" who will announce they'll stay home on Election Day as a demonstration of their power.

Because as we all know, you become more influential in politics and government and public life by staying home and doing less.

....

Does the "I'm staying home" crowd apply this to everything in life? "I don't like the way the company is run, so I'm not going to work."

"Honey, I'm just not happy with your performance as a spouse, so I'm going to be less active in the marriage until you improve."

"Kids, I'm disappointed with your performance in school. Until you improve, I'm ignoring you."

The thing is, I wonder how often the "I'm staying home this year" crowd voted before. In fact, I wonder if they ever vote.

I don't understand the "I've never been more fearful for the future of this country, but I'm not willing to do anything about it" mentality.

Ronald Reagan is not walking through that door, folks.

Oh? Really?
Please explain to me how voting for someone I believe to be just as bad as Obama, politically, would be a good thing.

I agree.

And... if a conservative does make it to the general election, there is still a Libertarian on the ballot to throw the election to the Democrat.

How many times have we seen the total Conservative + Libertarian vote beat the Democrat?

Look at the Virginia governor's race for an example.

Oh nonsense, the 2012 Republican primary consisted of Romney, Santorum, Paul and Gingrich with Romney garnering 7 times the delegate votes than the next runner up who was Rick Santorum.

While I voted for Santorum in the primary, I don’t recall receiving any letters from the GOP telling me to vote for Romney.

This BS of blaming the 2012 election defeat of Romney on the GOP is an insult to every conservative who did their job in voting for the party winner while all the stupid whiners stayed home and gave us B. Hussein Obama……….

Tell me, what exactly did the GOP do or not do, to convince you to stay home and not vote?

The GOP didn’t influence my primary vote in the least, I knew exactly where each candidate stood and I voted for my favorite. My favorite didn’t win but I certainly didn’t stay home and cry about it when the general election came around……….

After having to hold my nose for POTUS votes for Ford, GHWB, Dole, McCain, and Romney. Principles are a higher priority than supporting the RINO train

Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton are smart enough to understand political dynamics. I hope you are too.

Lets also hope for a GOP that is smart enough to avoid alienating its base.

The Loud
they are alive and well in Connecticut churches ....

they demonstrate their enormous power by boycotting elections. And nothing can be said to dissuade them.

Anathema.

At present, the dynamic flow is guided by the Democrat party. Their liberals make it the party of give-aways; a party of “vote for me and I’ll give you this service or benefit.” This vote buying creates a side effect that they use often: ‘the republicans are uncaring because they won’t give you things.”

That's just a tactic.

The strategy is that the Democrats play kill-or-be-killed hardball politics. Republicans play go-along-to-get-along politics.

Democrats are ruthless. Republicans cower.

Democrats keep an ace or two up their sleeves. Republicans announce in advance what cards they have taken off the table.

And by the way, I always vote, but it will not be for a RINO. The pencil works fine for a write in.

What are you going to do about it?

Put a gun to our heads and force us to fill in the box for the Ruling Class stooge?

I think McConnell’s hatred of Conservatives is being echoed by the GOP party hacks in here who demand we vote “R’ no matter how much rape and abuse we have suffered at their hands.

Never again. We vote ONLY Conservatives - PERIOD.

That would be the sanctimonious self righteous who place a higher value on their own self esteem than on America. Better Obama than me feeling bad is the attitude

I haven't used this one lately but for this:

those who stay home are not conservative...

they are not liberal..

they are nothing, with no morals or backbone, who choose to “take my toys and go home” than to drag their asses to the polls and vote..

notice i did not say to vote republican..

there are plenty of third party candidiates out there that are worthy of your vote..

but, if you stay home you are not only a contemptable sob, but are also a traitor....

a traitor to this country, and a traitor to god..

It is SO discouraging to have a left-winger nominated on the R ticket.

But Romney (and even McCain, alas what a disappointment he’s proven to be!!!) ... would have been 1000 times better for USA than a foreign enemy agent in our WH

I say, we all get out and vote next time (if America and any sort of electoral process survives until then)...., please?
