National Review Writer: Women Who Have Abortions Should Be Hanged
Talking Points Memo ^ | Tue Sep 30 2014

Kevin Williamson, a correspondent for National Review, suggested Monday that women who have abortions should be hanged.

Williamson's tweet came in a back-and-forth on twitter that started with Williamson's piece criticizing a blog post by actress and director Lena Dunham on why women should vote.

The key part of the exchange was captured by Charles Johnson of the blog Little Green Footballs. Here is the exchange:

I would initially agree with you. But a poster did make a logical point in pointing out; If you believe abortion is the intentional killing of a human life, then that is murder. If you also support capital punishment for premeditaded murder, then you might be expected to support the execution of the mother who seeks out the abortion.

Mind you, I am not suggesting I support what was said. But I am pointing out that, as proof on this thread, the comment was not "needlessly provocative".

It gets trickier. If those who abort are murdering innocent lives, then to what means is it JUSTIFIED to stop those heinous crimes of murder by any means necessary? Including murdering the murderers.

Abortion is considered a medical procedure. That’s the out Liberals use. And yes, you’d be the one charged too.

I never heard of him.

My first question is why is he communicating with these people?

They, too, need prayer. Time was that abortion was not so much in the public eye, but was something extremely serious, talked about in whispers and kept private. Even then, people are people and should not be dealt with in stereotypical fashion. Whenever there is advocacy for aberrant behavior, a rebuke should issue forth. Wherever aberrant behavior has taken place and there is true contrition and sorrow (especially if/when the Creator’s will is revealed in regard to proper conduct), there is at least room for improvement if not salvation. Pride and despair are the lot of those who despise the Creator’s will. Joy and humility accompany those who know Him, but they struggle, too.

The question is.... do you believe abortion is OK in cases of rape or incest.

You are the one who postured that ridiculous comment, so I think you believe it.

By allowing abortion in the cases of rape/ incest, you are penalizing the child for the crimes of their father.

The child did not get to pick the circumstances of conception.

You won’t get any argument from me about holding men equally responsible with women on this issue.

The problem is that legally, in our society, it is entirely the woman’s decision whether to abort. The father has no legal right to even have any input on her decision.

Therefore, at present, abortion is entirely the woman’s decision and responsibility. I’d be all in favor changing that, though.

Before this thread gets to 200 repiles - the basic question is...

If abortion is murder, to what extent should the woman and her doctor involved with that murder be punished?

I don’t see any reason that the father couldn’t be charged with being an accessory, just as with any other crime.

You may note that Berkowitz and Dahmer were in prison when they died.

I assumed, possibly incorrectly, that your post meant that women who abort their children should not suffer criminal penalties.

Was that incorrect?

BTW, I’m not really trying to pick on you. I’m aiming at all those prolife types who loudly proclaim that “abortion is murder,” and then try to dodge the consequences of such a doctrine, which is that the murderers should be punished.

By their actions they state that abortion is much less serious than “real murder.”

Just make clear that there are different kinds of forgiveness. Waiving the punishment for a criminal offense shouldn’t be confused with divine forgiveness. You have nothing to do with either one, unless you are a human or divine judge.

You’re right. John the Baptist and Jesus couldn’t keep their mouths shut either and look what happened to them.

Charles Johnson was the one that said that when Williamson said abortion should be treated like a homicide.

Williamson +1

You are forgetting some women are forced into abortions. Either by sex trafficking or by family. You will hear them say “I felt like I had no choice”, my husband, boyfriend, parents wanted me to abort and the pressure was too much. What about them? What we need is out overturn roe vs wade. and the other doe vs boulton. let it go back to the states. Most states had it illegal anyway.

So what about those who murder a human being outside of the womb who use the same excuse?

The woman allows makes a contract for it. The abortionist does it.

I’ll bet that they took the statement completely out of context and are using it as their whip.

Do you support the death penalty for murder under any circumstances?

Sometimes yes the man can’t stop her. I won’t deny that fact. More often than not it’s not the “woman’s choice”. If the woman had a choice she’s keep the baby in a New York minute.

Think I’m kidding you then stand out in front of an abortion clinic with the pro lifers when 40 days for life starts this Sunday and watch the women going in! Watch women, sometimes teen girls being dragged and I mean dragged in by boy friends, fathers husband and they crying. Does that look like they want to do that? Any woman crying going into an abortion mill, does that look like she wants to do that? Yes the pro lifers want to help her too and often women have said they wanted to run to them but their husbands/boyfriends/fathers had suck an (often physical) hold on them they could not run for their lives much less their babies.
Then there are the clinic “deathscorts” that are around the women so they can’t escape while going into the clinic. I’m telling you what the clinics tell you that is to keep the prolifers away from her but in truth that is to keep her from also escaping and going to them! Yes I know there are screwed up chicks like Emely Letts but for one like here there are 100+ that don’t want this!

The more I read about the abortion industry the more I realize how much this is so stacked against women. To sell it as “a woman’s choice” and “it will solve problems” is the biggest lie that happened in the Garden of Eden. It is so screwed on so many levels. It does not free women it chains them to the abortion table!

Berkowitz is still alive last I checked.

We can’t punish abortionist now because roe vs wade and doe vs bouton is on the books. However once they are off the books then yes all bets are off. It’s up the river for them. Don’t know what each state does for murder and don’t know what kind of murder sentence that would be, but five will get you ten will be more than one count.
