The BBC just reported the following:

Islamic State crisis: Iraq air strikes ‘halt IS advance’

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-29408101

Iraqi ground forces, backed by air strikes, appear to have halted advancing Islamic State (IS) militants in a town west of Baghdad.

The BBC’s Lyse Doucet in the Iraqi capital says the air strikes followed clashes with IS militants, who have been making gains towards the capital.

Amariya al-Falluja, 40km (25 miles) from Baghdad, is a key strategic town

This isn’t as gloomy of a report but even if true, how long can they “halt” ISIS.

The Saudis are feeling a strange sense of pending doom. It's kind of like feeling there's a sword over your neck. Also, ISIS has threatened to destroy MECCA.

Someone else who might be getting that sinking feeling is our old friend Muqtada al-sadr. Many Americans were murdered because of this filthy cow plop. Mookie knows that when ISIS comes to his neighborhood, they won't be as concerned about collateral casualties as was the United States Military. ISIS will come in, kill all the males and older females and children, and they will select the younger females for rape prisons and for sale as brides. Mookie can wave bye bye to his wife and female relatives as they are loaded onto rape transport vehicles. And that assumes that he still has a hand to wave with.

I absolutely do not discount Iran entering uninvited if ISIS enters Baghdad in force. What a scenario we are facing now thanks to the ignorant illegal alien in the White House.

[ You’re almost right, please allow me to help here, I have decades of experience. What you REALLY need to do is attack a sledgehammer with your toilet. ]

I’ve been doing it wrong, I have been disconnecting my toilet and picking it up over my head and throwing it down onto the sledgehammer resting on the ground...

If they’re a mile west of the city they’re within man-portable SAM range of the airport -which is on the western edge of the city. Not good.

“. What happens if we wake up and see 1,600 heads of American military people on the ground, and then we learn that there were 100,000 or MORE ISIS fighters, and that Obama deliberately put out a smaller number!”

Obama wins in 2016? lol

That bigoted idiot Malaki refused to sign a Status of Forces Agreement that allowed us to try our own military personnel in case of law breaking. Well, he sure found out how well he could do without American back up. Meanwhile other groups in other parts of the world have been frightened by militant Islam. Here is an interesting article on Buddhist activism regarding the Muslim threat.

That’s a red herring.

You think Putin would let a SOF agreement stop him from keeping troops in Iraq?

All the dead and wounded sacrificed for NOTHING

I’m amazed the military hasn’t begun the coup d’état yet.

Very real possibility

That’s the absolute worst thing when it comes to this putz of a President, all the vets who died, were maimed, injured and this piece of sh*t gives it all back to the enemy. Just one more example that he is an enemy of the USA. He commits one act of treason after another and Congress just sits back and does nothing. The President is NOT the most powerful office in the land, Congress is, the will of the people, and the people are letting their country and everything their vets fought for be destroyed, it is beyond outrageous and disgusting.

Why would ISIS destroy Mecca, what with the Kaaba there and all? I thought that was the one place all muslims agreed was holy to them.

A successful assault on Baghdad would require dozens of sleeper cells in Baghdad to launch attacks, with the exterior attack primarily created as a diversion. We haven;t seen that yet. Perhaps this is ISIS’ hail mary play and last gasp.

Absolutely, this is an outrage.

I hope the Iraqi freedom fighters realize that Rumsfeld was correct:

Baghdad is merely a symbolic strategic point. People can relocate if necessary and attempt to hold strong points. On the other hand, I’d be demoralized too at this point because the symbolism of Baghdad will certainly demoralize others if Obama doesn’t change the sea levels and use his syrofoam pillars to block this advance.

I apologize on behalf of the voters who essentially abandoned our brave allies.

=[
