The US Government Is Warning You To Stay Away From These Countries

The world can be a dangerous place. Depending on where you live, you're reminded of that every time you turn on the TV or read the news.

If you are citizen of the United States there's also another consistent reminder: State Department travel warnings.

According to the US Passport and International Travel Office:

"We issue a Travel Warning when we want you to consider very carefully whether you should go to a country at all. Examples of reasons for issuing a Travel Warning might include unstable government, civil war, ongoing intense crime or violence, or frequent terrorist attacks. We want you to know the risks of traveling to these places and to strongly consider not going to them at all. Travel Warnings remain in place until the situation changes; some have been in effect for years."

We cataloged all the travel warnings now in effect and created the graphic below to show all the places where the US government doesn't want its citizens going:

Let's also not forget that the United States can be a very dangerous place itself, and that US foreign policy has helped turn some of these countries into the dangerous places they are now.(your fault)

“I suggest sooner than later, while some of Europe is still European.”

Between 1975 - 1985 I lived out of a suitcase. I saw all continents and multiple countries/cultures except Australia and Antarctica.

Thanks but no thanks. No more extensive travelling for me. ;-)

Whew! Except for the Philippines, southeast Asia is quiet., although Hong Kong might be a bit edgy. I seriously doubt Uyghurs will be making a pass thru Tiananmen Square again any time soon.

We visit Busan South Korea in November but with Un’s failing health, I’m OK with a few hours there , I would never visit NK willingly.. A few beers, ? Who knows? :-)

Why Busan, what’s happening there in November?

If I ever go I want to visit MBC’s Dramia, where they film their historical dramas. They built their very own historical village for the purpose and tourists are welcomed. Although it might take all day to get there and back.

It’s a stop on our cruise. One of the shorter stops too. I spent a week in Seoul. A long time ago. Quite the country and city.. And people.

No. Anything that you might have left there can be replaced.

I remember some Korean dramas were based there...

“May Queen” and “Answer Me 1997” (AKA: Reply 1997) among them

Those yellow and orange warnings in Mexico and points south are/have moved into the US yet we're not acknowledging that fact. We also aren't acknowledging the fact that those darker warnings in the ME have set up camp in the US.

We are taking a tour of an old temple and a fish market started by women. I wish we had more time in port. Same for Nagasaki.
