The US Government Is Warning You To Stay Away From These Countries

The world can be a dangerous place. Depending on where you live, you're reminded of that every time you turn on the TV or read the news.

If you are citizen of the United States there's also another consistent reminder: State Department travel warnings.

According to the US Passport and International Travel Office:

"We issue a Travel Warning when we want you to consider very carefully whether you should go to a country at all. Examples of reasons for issuing a Travel Warning might include unstable government, civil war, ongoing intense crime or violence, or frequent terrorist attacks. We want you to know the risks of traveling to these places and to strongly consider not going to them at all. Travel Warnings remain in place until the situation changes; some have been in effect for years."

We cataloged all the travel warnings now in effect and created the graphic below to show all the places where the US government doesn't want its citizens going:

Let's also not forget that the United States can be a very dangerous place itself, and that US foreign policy has helped turn some of these countries into the dangerous places they are now.(your fault)

I don’t ever plan to get on another airplane.

I’ve been to every country I ever wanted to visit, and now all my kids and their families are within driving distance.

Life is good!

Perhaps cities and states, based on per capita if rape, murder, mugging, armed robbery, etc.

I would be reluctant to travel to any other country.....well, maybe Canada but even that requires some thought and it would be doubtful that I would go even there.

There goes my vacation to north africa.

I do recommend the state department papers on various counties before you travel. I have found them informative and up-to-date.

we recently had a great trip to Prague, Krakow, Budapest, and Vienna. I suggest sooner than later, while some of Europe is still European.

No problem. My future travel plans don’t include any of those countries.

"I don’t ever plan to get on another airplane."

Ditto.

Son is in LA...I've asked him to reconsider and not come here for Christmas this year.

Central Afican Republic? Wait a minute!

Weird Central African Republic... Alice Through the Looking Glass...
UK Daily Mail In January. Central African Eats Muslims?

The Mayor of Bangui (Catherine Samba-Panza) asked the 'Christian' Militia to lay down their weapons and (presumably) not lunch on any more Muslim body parts...

I spent most of my career traveling to a lot of those countries. I don’t remember leaving behind anything of such value that would require a return to Nigeria, say.

The US,Canada and Britain give useful, authoritative guidance regarding travel to numerous countries.I think Australia does as well but I’m not certain. When a Westerner plans to travel, particularly to troubled, unstable or poor parts of the world he/she would be wise to check the advice of all three (or four) countries’ websites.IIRC they’re found on that country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs website (that being what most countries call their “State Department”).

Catherine Samba-Panza is now the President of the Country. Whoda guessed...? An African country with a Catholic Female President who is telling the Christian Militias not to lynch and BBQ Muslims...

Those Canadians are a dangerous lot. You'd be wise to avoid them if at all possible!

But seriously Canada is almost identical in every way to equivalent parts of the US.Except for Quebec that is...French,don't you know! The greatest dangers that the typical American is likely to find there are related to weather (I was there last January...-40F) and remoteness (there's a lotta *nothing* to be found away from the populated areas).

Yeah, but Canada has let in a lot of Muzzies. I’d be careful where I went in Canada also. Find out where all the Muzzies are located first.

Examples of reasons for issuing a Travel Warning might include unstable government, civil war, ongoing intense crime or violence, or frequent terrorist attacks.

One thing seems to be missing on this list, the one thing that causes more mayhem and strife than any other. Can't put my finger on it, though. Is it Christians? Jews? Buddhists? Zoroastrians? Hindus? Mormons? I'm stumped, I tell you.
