BISBEE At a special meeting held Wednesday, the Cochise County Board of Supervisors declared a State of Local Emergency in the county, which includes municipalities.
Supervisors Pat Call, Ann English and Richard Searle agreed that due to the heavy flooding caused by last weeks rains, which resulted in extensive damage and flooding to public facilities, roadways and infrastructure, it is in the best interest of the county and cities to declare an emergency.
The flooding has resulted in a condition of extreme peril to the public health and safety of its citizens, states the resolution the supervisors adopted at the special meeting.
If the county designation is recognized by state and federal officials, it can make additional emergency funds available to help repair the damaged facilities.
Curious. At my end of the county, the locals considered the 5” plus slow and gentle rain as a wonderful blessing.
Add to the damaged infrastructure the disease, drugs and criminality walking across the border and we have just another day in the paradise we call Arizona. Thank you democrats.
After yet another weak monsoon, that rain was Heaven-sent. Nature was going to be suffering through the winter without it.
Southeast corner of Arizona
Agreed, neighbor. Literal showers of blessings.
Which end of the watershed was that, heheh. Sure looks like nice country around there and towards Douglas.
Cochise is a pretty big county. ;)
Maybe a couple new flood control / storage reservoirs are in order? Not that the Obama EPA will ever let ‘em get built.
