Fed up with the GOP Establishment? That's no reason to stay home on Election Day
American Thinker ^ | 9/26/2014 | Carol Brown

With the mid-term elections weeks away, many conservatives are confronting a difficult choice. Assuming there are no solid conservatives on the ballot, do we vote for establishment candidates? Or not vote at all?

The reasons why some conservatives are on the fence or planning not to vote are well known. (And Democrats are loving every minute of it!)

I share these frustrations.

I agree. We had the Bush presidency and Republican congress and for all the good they could have, they did more damage than Clinton ever did. Bush the elitist was no better than his father the weenie elitist. Spend, spend, spend. Expand government, create more dependents and the police state framework (DHS) for the future. Islam, the religion peace? These are the people that now want our votes again and we should support?

There are times when things truly must get worse before they can get better. If our republic is to decline (which it mostly has) then perhaps the sooner it hits bottom the sooner we can re-start.

In republics, voting is a civic duty.

Under non-free government like ours, the privilege of voting is like a one night stand, in which the voter is wined and dined in the days leading up to the act, told she will be loved in the morning, only to find a $5 bill left on the nightstand.

…I will never criticize a principled conservative who refuses to cast a vote for some inside-the-Beltway @sshole who can't be an effective voice for conservative principles because he is part of the problem and has placed his political career over whatever principles he may have had.

The way I look at it is it's not a matter of putting the GOPe in power; it's a matter of taking the tool of the Senate away from THE WON.

I shudder when I think of his last two years with control of either house of Congress.

I'm sorry that people don't see that.

The RINO’s must be defeated.

They support the status quo in Washington.

If they remain in office, nothing will change.

Do not vote for a RINO.

It is better to have an enemy in front of you, than a traitor behind you.

The GOP needs to go away. With very isolated exceptions, they have demonstrated that they are no different than the Demonicrats. Committing occasional, rather than continual, treason is still treason.

I’ll vote Republican, but if Muffy, Biff, and the rest of the country Club tea-sippers think I’m going to help campaign for them, they got another thing coming.

i fear that here in Va, we will get screwed yet once again! Jarvis will be on the ballot just as he was for the governor race to f that up! i fear that he will pull just enough of the votes to screw over Gillespie! and Mark Warner NEEDS TO GO! how do we fight an OBVIOUS plant that will likely get enough votes to screw Gillespie, that would most likely have went toward the GOP challenger if not for this plant?

I so agree. They have sat complacent while our republic has been defiled by vicious socialist scum. They too, should be escorted over the borders in shame along with anyone else who sat silent while our nation has burned these past 6 years.

They didn’t vote “me too” on Obamacare did they?

Do they vote “me too” on gun control? Not extending tax cuts?

Cmon...they are not Reid. No way.

You may be anxious for us to "hit rock bottom" as soon as possible, but I personally don't care to take that trip with you.

It is better to have an enemy in front of you, than a traitor behind you.

Great point.

It would be far, far better to have Øbama in his last two years (when he has absolutely no electoral pressure limiting his course of action) running the Executive and Pelosi / Reid running the Legislative and, if anything, pushing him even more to the left than he already is…rather than to have RINOs running both houses and applying the brakes (even if those brakes are only lightly applied).

Because we would know who the enemy is...

Sounds like a plan to me.

You think you will eradicate the vermin by empowering Reid and Obama?

Don’t think so. You will have the real vermin gain 10 times the power...and entrench themselves maybe forever.

It isn’t a difficult choice.

I’m not staying home as there are some GOP candidates at the state level who I’ll vote for, but for the most part I’m done with the GOP. Finished. Over it.

The GOP has their Mississippi formula for “expanding the electorate” so they can just carry on.

You shouldn’t....

I will write names in for most of the offices in my area and only vote for one Republican who bucked the GOPe to win election to the state senate.

The state of Pennsylvania has just had its credit rating downgraded with the rating agencies noting a large defecit which means whether I vote for the liberal Dem or the incumbent Republican (who raised gas taxes 28 cents a gallon last year), the person elected will be signing off on a new tax increases next year.

Our “Republican” controlled legislature will not reform unsustainable pensions for governmemt employees or consider getting rid of state liquor stores that employ thousands of unionized employees. The government employee labor unions run this state and their interests will prevail with higher taxes inevitable to meet the budget shortfall.
