I would add to Mr. Golden's point #2 "Most black people live their lives as conservatives; a lot of them vote liberal because that’s the way their families vote", it's the same way with most Jewish people as well. The late NYC Mayor Ed Koch said that Jews live like WASPS and vote like Puerto Ricans. One would think that registering as democrat is as sacrosanct as Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and circumcisions. My beloved parents were registered dems long ago, but switched parties around the same time as Pres. Reagan, and for very much the same reason, they didn't leave the party, the party left them.

That’s a great comment by Ed Koch about the way Jews vote. It’s one of life’s great mysteries to me, why Jews vote overwhelmingly Democrat, maybe it’s nothing more than that’s what their parents and grandparents did.

I have friends who run a black religious theater company in Brooklyn and Cleveland. They do the famous “problem plays” of black America - sometimes still called the Chit’lin Circuit. These plays deal only with inner-city black problems - there are almost never white people in the plays. These plays are enormously conservative in outlook. And yet all these nice people I know (all anti-abortion) voted for Obama because of his race. Sad. Bo is right about everything he says.
