Clearest Sign Yet the GOP Will Take the Senate: Eric Holder to Resign

Eric Holder is going to resign his position as Attorney General

News is just coming across the wire. Holder has been Obama’s friend and companion for six years. He has relentlessly screwed up most everything he has touched. He has overseen a Department of Justice that has been complicit in killing American border patrol agents and covering up abusive government. In the vernacular of the kids these days, Eric Holder has loyally served as Barack Obama’s cockblocker.

And now he is resigning.

The only reason Eric Holder would do this now, before the mid-term elections, is if he was pretty sure he’d have to deal with a Republican Senate next year. A nomination and confirmation fight is just another area to be politicized before the 2014 mid-terms when the nation has turned against Barack Obama on a host of issues and Republicans are revving up attacks on both the IRS and Benghazi. It means a potential loss of control on another front when the Democrats are already on defense across the country. That instability does not happen unless the people in positions to control this decision see headwinds against them.

Eric Holder resigning is another sign the Democrats are worried about having to deal with a Republican Senate majority in January.

I don't exactly agree that this is a sign, since Holder will be staying until his successor is confirmed. But it's interesting nonetheless.

Holder belongs behind bars. All the more incentive for a Cruz presidency

I’m not sure at all how Holder resigning relates to how the electorate will vote in November.

The surest sign that the GOP will retake the senate would have been had the GOP not completely alienated its conservative base, but the GOP did completely alienate its conservative base.

So I would say that control of the senate AND the house is very much up in the air.

I’m thinking the GOP must be closer to prosecuting the POS than I thought. He’s heading for the exits like Lois Lerner and Janet Napolitano.

He is a criminal and needs to be in jail. Having him at the head of the “justice” department was an insult to the people of this country. The person who appointed him needs to resign and go back to stirring up dissent in Chicago.

I would add that Obama/Dems wants a confirmation before the Senate changes hands. The GOP (IF SMART) would hold up confirmation until Obama makes Holder available to answer for all his cover-ups.

A Republican Senate just might take up an impeachment of the Attorney General.

Agreed. If anything, this was done to stave off congressional oversight on investigations that should be ongoing, or started, and aren’t or haven’t.

The IRS thing, for example, is going to come to a halt, until after the election. That’s what you just heard announced.

Congress probably has what they need to fry most of the IRS. Prosecuting them would take the AG. Now there isn’t an AG.

Not sure why everybody is celebrating. He should be in jail. I see this as an expansion of a constitutional crisis.

Just my opinion.

After Holder retires he will spend his time fighting off his numerous lawsuits and trying to figure out what tie he will wear to Norway when he picks up his Nobel Peace Prize.

*************
Not even a remote possibility of this happening. GOP is all bark and no bite. It isn’t going after anyone, except maybe the Tea Party conservatives. The GOP is a complete joke.

I think the thinking here is that Obama wants to get Holder's replacement conformed before the GOP takes over the Senate and spare Holder from having both a GOP Senate and House demanding answers, instead of the Senate covering for him.

It is a signal that the regime thinks it’s quite possible that the Party Of Satan will lose the Senate in November.

With Harry Reid in charge, the anti-Christ has a great deal of leeway in who can be confirmed. That leeway narrows with the Republicans in charge.

As well, with Reid in charge, the nomination and confirmation process will proceed pretty quickly. With the Republicans in charge, it could drag out considerably longer.

Holder looks like a critter when the lights get turned on - can’t wait to scurry out of sight. He doesn’t want to be left dangling for an extended period while the Republicans drag out the process to confirm his successor.

You’ve got to win the midterms first. Holder is resigning now so that Harry Reid can jam through a new far left lib to replace Holder before the midterm elections, in case the Senate goes Pub.

He might end up behind bars but only if he isn’t tried in the political arena.
