Genome Scrambling and Encryption Befuddles Evolution

by Jeffrey Tomkins, Ph.D. *

One-cell creatures called ciliates are expanding our knowledge of genome dynamics and complexity. Now a newly sequenced ciliate genome reveals unimaginable levels of programmed rearrangement combined with an ingenious system of encryption.1

Contrary to the evolutionary prediction of simple-to-complex in the alleged tree of life, one-cell ciliates are exhibiting astonishing genetic complexity.2 The ciliate Oxytricha trifallax has two different genomes contained in separate nuclei. The micronucleus is dense and compact and used for reproduction while the macronucleus is dramatically rearranged, amplified, and used for the creature's standard daily living.

Science doesn’t have all the answers.

Crazy. I read once that a strawberry has more genetic matter as a percent of its weight than most living things. I wonder if we’ll find a message from God in there someday?

Neither does the Bible. Find me the chapter and verse that gives the KOH etch rate of undoped polysilicon.

You have to admit God out did Himself when He invented strawberries for us.

Just reacting to your headline and common practice at ICR, the fact that science hasn’t got an explaination for something doesn’t “prove” the existence of God or intelligent design. To argue otherwise is a classic non sequitur. It just means we haven’t figured something out yet.

Nope, that’s not there,

but the assurance of knowing that it is possible to know that value and that that value is predictable from occurrence to occurrence

IS in there.

Ciliate Protozoa have had just as much time to evolve as humans and strawberries. Why shouldn’t their genome be as complex as ours?

Clearly the concepts of intricate genome rearrangements on a massive scale combined with complex encryption systems do not bode well for something allegedly derived by the random chance processes of evolution.

Ergo, Darwin's theory is basically just a myth....

A theory that requires speciation to be a process of moving from the simple to the complex, by means of a random chance process, is utterly undermined by the accumulating evidence that all biological life is mind-bogglingly complex, even the so-called "simple" living systems.

Thanks for posting, fishtank.

DNA indicates that there IS an intelligence behind the creation of life. Evolution and random accidents contribute nothing to the complexity of life.

Below is an excerpt from Dr. Walt Brown’s free online book:

Duplicate copies of this long tape of coded information are coiled up in almost all of the 100,000,000,000,000 (one hundred trillion) cells in your body. The DNA in a human cell has 46 segments; you received 23 segments from your mother and 23 from your father. DNA contains the unique information that determines what you look like, much of your personality, and how every cell in your body is to function throughout your life.

If all the DNA in one of your cells were uncoiled, connected, and stretched out, it would be about 6 feet long. It would be so thin its details could not be seen, even under an electron microscope. If all this very densely coded information from one cell of one person were written in books, it would fill a library of about 4,000 books. If all the DNA in your body were placed end-to-end, it would stretch from here to the Moon more than 500,000 times! In book form, that information would fill the Grand Canyon almost 100 times. If one set of DNA (one cell’s worth) from every person who ever lived were placed in a pile, the final pile would weigh less than an aspirin! Understanding DNA is just one small reason for believing that you are “fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Well, I’ve looked at portions of Dr. Brown’s book. If you’ve bought into that nonsense, there is no common ground to debate anything.

Indeed. It requires blind faith to believe the information content of our DNA could have emerged by happenstance in the time available.

Thats the tale of “the flesh”.... some of it might even be TRUE...
“The spirit” could very well be “WHAT WE ARE”... flesh being transitory..

What about “the spirit”?... which could very well be as real or more real than Dark Energy/Matter... and black holes..

We think we know that it “is there”... we just don’t know what “it is”..
WHO WE ARE?.... might be a tale not fully evident now..

The real DRAMA might be in “The Spirit”... the flesh a shell or conduit..
Evolution seems to be about “packaging”...
Which is very important for marketing..
You know... religion..

Look, you’re obviously an intelligent person. Do yourself a favor and study those scientific disciplines you don’t accept to see what they are all about. Any geology 101 text will do or a biology text. There is overwhelming evidence for what you’ll find in those books and they have many workable, practical applications. Don’t just go back to the creationist websites and reinforce your prejudices.
