Ken Cuccinelli: GOP Wasting Money on “Dead Weight” Republicans
teaparty.org ^ | 9/24/14

Ken Cuccinelli, the newly elected president of the Senate Conservatives Fund, says the GOP is blowing “enormous sums” of money to prop up “dead-weight” Republicans who don’t stand for anything.

“The Republican Party is spending it on carrying dead weight like [six-term Mississippi Sen.] Thad Cochran and [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell,” Cuccinelli told Joe Concha, guest host of “The Steve Malzberg Show,” on Wednesday on NewsmaxTV.

“Matt Bevin — who Mitch McConnell slaughtered in their primary, beat him soundly — holds better against [Kentucky Secretary of State] Alison Grimes. [Retired Air Force Co.] Rob Maness in Louisiana polls better against [Democratic Sen.] Mary Landrieu than [Rep.] Bill Cassidy does.

“Yet, the Republican Party is spending enormous sums of money to support these people, who are about not believing anything. And that is the core of our problem.”

The 45-year-old Republican — who lost the race for Virginia governor to Democrat Terry McAuliffe in November, after four years as attorney general and eight years in the Senate — believes Democrats, fuelled by liberals, have more fire in the belly.

“They’re wrong on most things, but they believe something. The establishment on our side is adamant about not believing anything,” Cuccinelli said.

“You can’t stand for anything, you can’t win that way. In fact, you can’t win without it. If there isn’t a reason to fight, the people won’t fight and they won’t show up.”

Cuccinelli says Republicans must run as conservatives and promote conservative values to win.

“In my entire lifetime at the presidential level, 100 percent of Republican nominees who ran as conservatives won and 100 percent of Republican nominees who ran not as conservative — Romney and McCain, they both did that — have all lost,” he said.

“How much clearer numbers do you need than 100 percent?”

It's Teaparty. Mitch McConnell won't care what they say.

McConnell specifically cited the Senate Conservatives Fund by name as his enemy he wanted to crush.

"Mitch McConnell and his leadership are adamant about not supporting anything principled that you can name. That’s what’s depressing Republican donors, Republican activists and in polling it’s depressing Republican numbers.”

Truth always bears repeating.

Ken is wrong about establishment republicans not believing in anything. They believe in a powerful government, they just believe they should be running it instead of democrats. They also believe that reformers are bad for proponents of more government.

Narrowing the base is not a compelling argument from a guy who lost a winnable race in Virginia.

How much support did he get from the Party compared to the deadweight he's talking about?

Ken is right. We should hand the Senate to Harry Reid for the next 2 years to show those RINOs we mean biz.

Of course in 2 years it’s a presidential election where Dems perform better - while purple/blue Repub seats are all on the line (WI, PA, etc). Translation GOP gets shellacked. So then it’s Hillary and Harry for 2 more years.

Then in 2018, down by probably 15 seats or so, we will really show those RINOs.

Except in 2018 they’ll be 20 million new Mexican Dems.

Turn out the lights.

By Ken being a conservative, and the Northern half of Va being on the .gov payroll in one way or another.

But just to be safe, the RATS ran an ‘independent’ RAT who siphoned off the points Ken would have beat Terry with.

Also, there were some R scandals at the time.

But Ken didn’t call in Sarah to get TEA out, he called in Ron Paul to stump for him and get the Paulites out... bet he regrets that decision now.

Standing on principles, while often difficult in the short term, is generally best in the long run. The GOP should hold honest, fair and unbiased primaries. Anything less destroys the integrity of the party.

I read in a thread on here a week or so ago that the SCF was not giving any money to Joni Ernst in Iowa for the General Election. They did in the Primary, but not now. Anybody have a clue?

Hey, it’ll be o.k. Apparently you live in Virginia. Your “extra” Senator that you guys have, Pat Roberts, formerly of Kansas..... He’ll take care of you.

The GOP threw Cuch under the bus. They essentially handed the win to McAuliffe.

Oh yay.
We here have so many damn carpet baggers in our state, including the dope in the governor’s mansion as well as the two serving in the senate, we are the poster child for “open borders”...
Bleeeech.

Bolling also refused to endorse Cuccinelli after losing the primary, didn’t he?

Now John Warner is endorsing Mark Warner over Gillespi.

And the establishment still expects us to donate, GOTV and vote for them.
