In one press conference after another, when referring to the Muslim terror super-group ISIS, United States President Barack Obama will use the term ISIL instead of their former name ISIS or current name Islamic State. Have you ever wondered about that? We have.
ISIL stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant. Now, to us Westerners we don’t really make much of a distinction, do we? No, honestly from our perspective its all about the same. But how would a Muslim living in the Middle East view it? Just what is the Levant anyway? Let’s take a look.
The geographical term LEVANT refers to a multi-nation region in the Middle East. It’s a land bridge between Turkey to the north and Egypt to the south. If you look on a map, however, in the near exact middle of the nations that comprise the Levant, guess what you see? Come on, guess! It’s Israel.
When Barack Obama refers over and over to the Islamic State as ISIL, he is sending a message to Muslims all over the Middle East that he personally does not recognize Israel as a sovereign nation, but as territory belonging to the Islamic State.
Now you know why Obama says that he has no plan, no goal, and no stated aim for dealing with ISIS. But he does have a plan, and it’s a really nasty, diabolical one.
Obama’s plan is to drag his feet for as long as he can, doing only the bare minimum that Congress forces him to do. His “plan”to buy ISIS as much time as possible to make as many gains as they can.

The Islamic State has garnered millions of dollars, a vast cache of weapons, and in their latest foray have captured Syrian fighter jets. With each passing day that Obama fulfills his stated aim of doing nothing, the Islamic State grows by leaps and bounds. The ultimate goal, of course, has not changed and will never change.
The ultimate goal is the destruction of Israel. (and transformation of our Constitutional government).
Now you know a little bit more why Obama chooses his words so carefully, and what’s really in a name. Shakespeare had it right.

I heard one of the other politicians, forget who know, call it ISIL as well, perhaps that is the way they are being briefed. This Levant matter came up once before, I think at least some military are using it. Check the talking heads’ guests.
But "Syria" isn't necessarily the neutral, limited term one might think. As with a lot of countries in the world, there have been expansionist visions of "Greater Syria."

I always thought it was his plan to do very little, but sound like he meant business. Dragging his feet to give them lots of time to expand and recruit. Their numbers will swell faster than they can be picked off from the air.

This is actually an example of the stopped clock phenomenon: Obama is right to call the group ISIL, though ISIS, when what the letters stand for is correctly understood is also correct. The people who are wrong are those who assert that the second S stands for Syria.
The group’s Arabic name before it proclaimed the restoration of the Caliphate was Al-Dawla Al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham, which Englishes The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (abbreviating to ISIL) — al-Sham being the Arabic word for the Levant. If one wants to be exotic, one Englishes it as The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham (abbreviating to ISIS), and if one wants to be deceptive and hide the group’s ambition to minimize the threat, one pretends the second S stands for Syria, which is what the MSM has been doing, while State and Obama, by translating the last word to English before abbreviating are getting it right.
Alternatively, could favor the Arabic abbreviation that renders in Roman characters as DAISH, over both ISIL and ISIS. (Note the sh, rather than an s, there being an Arabic character for sh which is the first letter of Sham, while the Arabic character for s is not.)
I heard on one of the shows, I think Fox and perhaps it was even Colonel North, that at the least we were “kicking the can down the road” but I hadn’t thought of what you said about their numbers swelling. That makes sense and would be an unintended consequence. I heard earlier on some news show that the FBI or homeland security are tailing ‘dozens’ of persons who have returned from Syria, so there is that danger as well.

they want back what was took after the Sykes-Picot Agreement, they are trying to erase those borders drawn by British and French (Sykes-Picot) in their plan to divide the Ottoman Empire, they(IS) even mention Sykes-Picot borders in a couple of their prop videos...the problem with the S-P agreement of 1916 was the British originally promised both Arabic and Jewish communities the region of Palestine, as a result conflicts got worse between these two nations, ultimately they were just used as pawns by British and French govt

That is it in a nutshell. Obama created the Islamic State.
The 2009 Cairo Speech was his announcement.
People should read the transcript of that speech, or watch the video. He calls the Koran "holy" over and over again, denounces the United States, apologizes to Islam, and gave the Muslims the green light to make war on Israel and Christians.
It is shocking.

I’d rather he call it IS (for Islamic State), for that is what is at war with us and with that is what we need to be at war.
