The Air Comes Out of the Climate Change Talks
Real Clear Politics ^ | 9-24-14 | Rupert Darwell

Tuesday's climate summit at the U.N. may well mark a turning point in the long-running talks as the reality sinks in that they are heading nowhere. For sure, the rhetoric is unchanged. Recently appointed U.N. peace messenger Leonardo DiCaprio is the show’s newest star, telling the meeting that it was "humankind’s greatest challenge." But the older acts sounded stale. Former Vice President Al Gore demonstrated his green credentials when he said that political will was "a renewable resource," recycling a line he’d first used at the 2007 Bali climate conference.

For small countries, the U.N. climate change talks provide an opportunity to show the world what virtuous global citizens they are. The Baltic republics boasted of the costly steps they are taking to rid themselves of fossil fuels as if decarbonizing their economies will help protect them against the Russian bear. Finland’s leader boasted how his country was going to decarbonize completely, but didn’t say that Finland will rely on Russian nuclear technology – surely a dangerous dependency. For countries like Denmark and Ireland, vanity and preening come easily. Italy’s new leader , Matteo Renzi, came up with a genuinely novel slant, arguing that the "concept of beauty" needed to be injected into the climate change debate, but did not say how this might help Italy’s debt-laden economy.

The most surreal moment of all came from the Iraq’s president Fuad Masum. The day after the U.S. launched air strikes against ISIS, Mr. Masum spoke of the threat of ecological catastrophe to his country. To speak thus is to belittle the brutality engulfing his Iraq.

Yeah, and the number of serious storms in a year is definitely evidence of climate change, except for years when there are few serious storms.

You know, I think I’m getting the hang of this...

And the amount of snowfall, lesser means the planet is warming, more means the planet is warming.

Yeah, it pretty much is “take two contradictory items, link them via globull warming, state it with a straight face or with frothing spittle and wide eyes”.

It’s the seriousness of the allegation that is important.

Facts are relevant to the extent they are convenient.

Climate Movement Drops Mask, Admits Communist Agenda
Aren't these the same people that claim there are no blacks at Tea Party rallies because they're racist? This commie rally was in Oakland, Cal, and I didn't see one black person in the photos.

“Shoot the virus!”

OK, but how will we know if we’re winning? A body count?

Honestly have no idea.
But apparently our illustrious leadership is once again sending soldiers out to battle “something” by doing “something”.
It must be magic as nobody knows what that “something” is.

Maybe he hopes to take prisoners for interrogation so we can find out where the head virus is located. But no waterboarding!

Great, now I have this stuck in my head, in the voices of Team Fortress Soldier and Scout:

“Waterboard the virus!”

But, how? It’s so tiny!

“Are you telling me you can’t do your job?!”

No sir, not at all!

“We must find the head virus, and punish it!”

Too bad the New York Times won’t do an ‘in depth’ piece on how these groups are funded...

Didn’t I read recently on FR that diCaprio used the world’s 5th largest yacht to throw a party in or near Brazil recently?

No doubt why he is now babbling that climate change has gone way past personal choices making any difference. How very con-veeen-ient for those using pvt jets and monster SUVs to attend climate conferences etc.

Very soon ... a case will be made where "self defense" is claimed for the termination of a global warming fascist.
