North Dakota should be ashamed of themselves. They are brining in huge money in energy and still has a gas tax. Pathetic.
And by signing on to that tax, Tom Corbett essentially signed his political death warrant.
The hike is so steep this will actually give Democrats the chance to cut it and come away looking like heroes. They’ll shift some of the burden onto the EEEEEEVIL Rich and EEEEEEVIL Corporations, and come away looking like heroes to the low-info voter.
Did you learn NOTHING from “read my lips” Tom??
And ND is spending a lot trying to keep up with the population growth, road wear&tear, etc
N. Dakota needs $800 million for housing, schools in wake of oil boom, state GOP says

The federal rate for gasoline is 18.4 cents/gallon, so that 70+cents/gallon tax in CA is really 51+cents in CA taxes, plus the federal tax.
Also, the tax rate for diesel in many states (not all, Idaho is $0.25/gallon for both) is different from the gasoline tax rate, and the federal tax on road diesel is higher at 24.4 cents/gallon.
Actually, the CA state gas tax is 70 cents/gallon, and to that you add the Fed tax of 18.4 cents/gallon, so you are at 88.4 cents/gallon.
To that you add any local taxes that are imposed, if any.

Oregon requires an attendant to pump the gasoline.
When I worked at a Full Service Gas station, we would get few tips.
but we made up for it by looking down the blouses of the women who came in while we washed their windows.
Bow chicka bow wow.
Portland liberals require an attendant to wipe themselves.
Look again. The map and article specifically state that the federal tax is included in the state totals (which would be around 70-cents for CA).
Thanks for that. We usually get our gas at Costco in Warrenton when we’re there - my BIL drives and pays for the gas and I honestly don’t recall who pumps as my sister, nephew and I have already headed into Costco while he’s filling up.
My cousin’s daughter got married at Big Sky a few years ago. It was a fun time - beautiful area! We took a trip to Yellowstone after the wedding. All in all, great family trip :-)
TH, thanks for the correction—I misread the chart.
Yes, you are correct. I misread the chart. Thanks.
You're welcome. Although I would add that I would certainly believe CA's taxes would be that high per gallon. What some states do, and California is one of them, is they tax the fuel at a per-gallon rate (excise tax), then they tax it again with a sales tax on top of the sale price.
Yep. I do a 125 mile round trip commute on Kentucky twisties every day. I’ve had the car for 14 months and put 34k on it. This is including parking it for two months during the winter to avoid road salt.
