Seattle Times ^ | 28AUG2014 | Daniel Beekman

An uprising by residents in several Seattle neighborhoods has prompted a City Council proposal, backed by the mayor, that attempts to strike a balance between developers of micro-apartments, opponents, and the needs of a fast-growing city that is home to many one-person households.

Seattle needs micro-apartments after the $15 minimum hourly wage takes on it’s full effect. Small businesses must move out of Seattle.

These could work as a second home for people who come to Seattle often for business or pleasure.

The best solution is, don’t like it, don’t rent it.

Problem is parking. If you squeeze twenty people into a space where there once was five, where do you put their cars?

Necessary, due to macro taxes.

Sometimes you have to just stand back and revel in the idiocy of leftists. After all this time they still don’t realize that a dumb idea will suffocate from the weight of its own stupidity.

The problem is that they have congregated so much concentrated stupidity within the city limits of that town the imbecility oozes out faster than they can plug the leaks.

There aren’t any cars to park in the elite’s eyes. Those living there are supposed to take alternative forms of transport such as walking/jogging, bicycling, the bus, train, telecommuting, or some other type.

The city put a waiver on new construction that does not require the builder to install parking if they choose not to do so.

How is a 300 sq ft “apodment” any different from an efficiency studio flat in NYC? That’s 15’x 15’ which would be snug but doable for a single person who doesn’t have too much clutter. Kitchenette in a closet, tiny 3/4 bath, sleeping and living quarters all together in the rest of the space. Every old city has these. They want urban density to support the “cool” downtown coffee shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife, that’s the way to achieve it, particularly in high cost of living areas. I don’t want to live that way but many apparently enjoy it. Have at it as far as I’m concerned.

The good little socialists are objecting to living in cages? Isn’t this their utopia?

BTW, Austin, TX is trying to shut them down also.

Millennial hipsters hate cars, they use public transportation. Allegedly.

If you want more room and parking rent/buy a place with more room and/or allotted parking.

How are people supposed to consume enough to drive the economy if they don’t have room for their “stuff”? I guess they’ll have to buy very expensive and small stuff.
