As Jill Tarlov, 59, remained on life support from her massive head injuries at an Upper East Side hospital, cyclists took to blogs and Twitter to jeer Marshall for slamming his $4,000 racing bike into the Connecticut mother of two on Thursday at a West Drive intersection. Some insiders blasted Marshall as a triathlon-obsessed “Tridork,” and a “Fred,” both derogatory terms for Lycra-clad cyclists riding pricey, tricked-out bikes.

I cycle 5.5 miles as often as I can, and lurkers please note that I stay on the shoulder out of the driving lanes.
I use proper hand signals, and yet some people have issues with anything smaller than they are being on “THEIR” roads.
The last idiot to try running me over seemed to react to a motorcycle driving slowly in the OTHER direction.
[50 MPH zone. Motorcycle was driving sedately with good reason: deer and corn fields do not mix with vehicles and roads nearby.]
So Civic boy coming up behind me starts loudly screaming about “Effing two wheelers” before trying to hit me.
He missed, but I skinned my shin on my pedal avoiding his rear bumper as he slid across in front of me.

I believe those who advocate homosexual rape are on the road to hell. Those who do so and claim the name of Jesus are false Christians, really not Christians at all, and need to be warned lest they end their sorry lives in darkness.

Biking on roads built for cars is extremely dangerous. Our country road is littered with memorials of those who thought they were invincible when in fact many times they are invisible. Your husband should be a careful to avoid those areas where he can get run off the road by “jerks”. He could leave a widow and orphans behind. I hope he has a lot of insurance.
Frankly if he is riding 20-40 miles in 2 hours in areas where he could be run off the road, then he may be the idiot.
There are bike trails where you don’t run the risk of being run off the road by “jerks”. As a family man your husband should be riding there.
Queers advocate homosexual rape so what's good for them is good for them. They can spare themselves if they choose to change the way they live otherwise I'm not advocating anything other than their being free to practice their lifestyle as they see fit. Again u sir are the idiot. He bikes safely and obeys all traffic laws. Trails are dangerous due to the amount of pedestrian traffic and little kids on bikes. A car does not have sole rights to the road. In fact in Colorado horses have the right of way by law. You are the one that started calling people who wear clothing appropriate to their sport of doubtful sexuality. Have fun in your narrow self righteous world.

I'm sure all the memorials down on the country road below my house are in memory of bikers who were obeying all the traffic laws. I haven't seen a biker go faster than 55 MPH. They're still dead.
A car does not have sole rights to the road. In fact in Colorado horses have the right of way by law.
Having the right of way does not prevent you from being run over by someone who just might not see you. It is a dangerous "sport". Both for the riders and the pedestrians that they seem to be unable to avoid occasionally.

Really? What model scoot does he straddle? Fatbob? Electra-Glide? Lowboy? Or a Sportster like I do?
Or is he lucky enough to ride a Panhead or Shovelhead on a rigid frame? Though much as I love them, they are kind of hard on the (any) passenger. Those P-pads don't have a lot of padding on them.
