Bloggers trash Central Park cyclist
The New York Post ^ | 09/21/2014 | Larry Celona

Even his fellow “Tridorks” and “Freds” are turning on him. Cyclists are racing online to rage against speed demon Jason Marshall — and show their support for the tragic victim he mowed down in Central Park. As Jill Tarlov, 59, remained on life support from her massive head injuries at an Upper East Side hospital, cyclists took to blogs and Twitter to jeer Marshall for slamming his $4,000 racing bike into the Connecticut mother of two on Thursday at a West Drive intersection. Some insiders blasted Marshall as a triathlon-obsessed “Tridork,” and a “Fred,” both derogatory terms for Lycra-clad cyclists riding pricey, tricked-out bikes.

exhibition driving was a far more serious charge than mere speeding”: Correct sort of, Riding a wheelie on my motorcycle garnered a fine double that of doing 120 in a 55 zone.

BUT when there is Injury or Death Involved due to an “Egregious” act, as a matter of Public Policy you are ALWAYS ARRESTED ON THE SPOT. Why isn’t he in JAIL???

They should have been cracked down all the way back to the 1970s - they’ve always been a murderous group. They have made the bike lanes of Central Park uninhabitable for family bikers.

So the brakes shown in the photo of that bike, both front and back, are “decoy” brakes?

Years ago, someone told me that if you walk where bikes are common, you should carry a cane or walking stick. If one gets too close you “accidently” push it into their spokes resulting in the proverbial sudden-stop for the cyclist.

But Marshall, 31, of East Harlem, likes to go very fast — and boasts about it online almost every day.

Another fool whose online jabbering comes back to haunt him.

I’ve been run off the road by Honda Civic driving morons .
I was on the other side of the white line, no need to try to hit me.

I live on the most heavily traveled bike route In Marin Co. California...In San Anselmo.CA.

the ANTICS I have seen these rubes pull could fill a book.

the police make a STATEMENT that they WILL be enforcing traffic laws for bikers....and nothing ever comes of it whatsoever.

the people who haul thier small children around in these.....make me almost as crazy!

they could not have been meant for use on city streets...but YET!

More likely a racer wannabe or a tri-geek. The tri-geeks tend to be especially arrogant, as well as lousy bike handlers. I highly doubt that he is a member of a USA Cycling registered racing club, since most clubs frown on such behavior, to the point of kicking them out. One of the reasons is sponsorship, even for the smaller amateur clubs. You would never find this kind of crap from a pro rider.

Throw the book at him. He was on a training ride, not a sanctioned race with course marshalls. He should be aware of pedestrian crossing points along the six mile loop.

Disclosure statement - I used to race.

I don’t despise you or any biker. But “your sport” has in recent decades earned a pretty solid block of haters!

Where there’s smoke.....is there fire?

Fenton’s pal Tom Longman said Marshall was hunched over the brakeless, triathlon-style “aerobars” attached to the handlebars of his high-performance, yellow and black ride.

The bike has breaks, it was the aerobars (meant for racing) attached to the handlebars that had no breaks.

If you don’t ride any better than you type, spell and proof read, I hope....

I decided not to finish it....out of SHEER boredom. Sometimes I quit in the middle of trimming shrubbery out of SHEAR boredom.

Felony Wreckless Driving

Uhhh... Wreckless driving is something we should all strive for.

Reckless Driving is something altogether different.

I’m to the point that my opinion on bicycling on the street is that it should be outlawed.

Mrs. Patriot agrees with you, but I would prefer a simple bounty for the spandex wearing ones only.

Maybe rock salt - dye shotgun loads with gun camera footage to provide proof for bounty.

“Fred” is a disparaging term for a rider with no bike handling skills. A crash waiting to happen. No one wants to ride with a Fred. Tri-geeks are just as bad. They may be fast and strong, but they can not hold a straight line for anything.

Last year on my way to work one morning, I was nearly run off the road by a Honda Civic driving moron and I was driving my car. Evidently going 15 to 20 mph over the posted speed limit on a two lane country road wasn’t fast enough for this “Fast & Furious” wannabe so he very aggressively tailgated me. He eventually turned off a side road and somehow ended up in front of me. Instead of just going on his way at whatever speed he wanted, he would occasionally slam on his breaks I guess in an attempt to get me to hit him. He stopped his antics when he must have seen that I had turned on the video camera on my cell phone and started filming him.
