Seconds before he plowed his $4,000 bike into Connecticut mom in Central Park, leaving her brain dead, speed-demon racing cyclist Jason Marshall zoomed down a pedestrian lane and crossed over into the vehicle lane of the park’s West Drive — even though neither is legal for cycling, The Post has learned.

Law-enforcement sources say that moments before Thursday afternoon’s accident, Marshall was barreling downhill in the lane restricted to pedestrians and child bicyclists.

Whenever I’m in Central Park I always keep my eyes peeled for Speed Racer. And in spite of my caution I’ve had one or two pretty close calls.

Ten bucks says that apart from his $4,000 bike he doesn’t have a penny to his name...or liability insurance.

The fun-time risks finally caught up with this guy. And the woman he killed.

They didn’t do anything about him before, so now they’ll have to...unfortunately, their procrastination/apathy has left a family reeling from a totally unnecessary and preventable death.

Roadies can be some of the most dangerous, arrogant, selfish and downright stupid riders out there...

This reminds me of the story from SF where a roadie ran over an old lady and she died...

I ride my bike a lot, and these guys are ruining it for me. They have an irritating sense sense of moral superiority, they like to block traffic, and they dress like french fags. All fueled by roid rage. They make motorists hate cyclists.

I almost got me two bikers years ago in Tulsa OK. The light turned green, I proceeded when zip! There they were, coming from the left! Lucky I had good brakes.
We now got lots of them around here, some on reclining bikes. I don”t trust them at all!

I live east of Seattle, and I run every day.

The number of close calls I have with young white males on expensive bikes is insane.

I have bikers pass me on the sidewalk who are going faster than the bikers in the street.

I have bikers pass me within 2 feet from behind...when there is a street bike lane just a few feet away.

I tell my family and friends if I fail to come home after a run it means I was killed by a biker or knocked into the street and killed by oncoming traffic.

I like running on a hard surface, but there are no public hard service running tracks in my area.

I’ve actually thought about quitting running because it is so dangerous if you do not pay attention every second.

These A-holes give all bikers a bad name.

And they want special rights and privileges like a four-foot clearance when being passed.

Or carbon. $4k is not much to spend on a quality bike.

Chromolly frame, and the running hardware, brakes, gears, pedals, shifters, can all be pretty expensive.
Especially in a racing bike.
