For folks who are trying to ignite inflation, this sure isnt working out very well. Its been hoped by the countrys central bankers that the massive quantitative easing program along with near-zero interest rates will touch off a wave of inflation that if not exactly the same thing as boom times, will at least give the appearance of a strengthening economy. However, month after month inflation in the goods that the Fed cares about seems muted. Now this month we had the horrid news that official inflation numbers are falling not rising.

In 2008, the day Obama got elected, the price of gasoline was $1.87.
I sure do long for the “dismal economy” that existed under W sometimes.
You mean, “the worst economy since the Roosevelt Depression”?
The problem is: there is a limit to how much artificial inflation can be sustained before prices collapse, and the Fed has been artificially inflating the economy for a long time already.
Well, there's the rub. For purposes of S.S. pay raises, gasoline and groceries aren't even considered.
We are seeing massive inflation - in asset prices, property, anything touched by our financialized economy. Besides - I don’t care what bullsh** stats the BLS gives us, I’m paying a lot more at the grocery store these past few years
“inflation that if not exactly the same thing as boom times, will at least give the appearance of a strengthening economy”
Exactly what I have been saying. The birdbrains are trying furiously to dilute the value of the dollar, which will raise the numbers, giving the illusion of improved prosperity.
Hasn’t worked, because they have destroyed productivity so much that no one has any money to spend. This keeps prices from rising.
Do you know why? Because President Bush lifted the ban on the Outer Continental Shelf exploration.
Notice what the price of gas was before President Bush lifted the ban ($4.10) the rats had been in both houses
Notice what the average price was on 9/18/2004? In 2006 Piglosi bitched because it had gone up to $2.36 per gal
Then after the rats got both Houses the price of gas started to climb again
If only Obama and all his thugs would just get the hell out of our way.
Exactly
Yep, the highest prices for gasoline that I have ever seen came in July of 2008 and then the price fell off a cliff. One station closed down here and the sign stayed up for a long time with the price of $1.37&9/10 showing. That was the lowest it had been in years and it will probably never be that low again. The current price is around double what it was when Obama took the oath in 2009.
The lowest price in my town in 2008 was $1.34 if I remember correctly
