Following up on my post on Friday about the long illustrious history of conservative vote suppression its interesting that one of the nations foremost activists in the field should be in the spotlight going into the November election. Indeed, hes right in the middle of one of the most interesting races in the country.
Im referring to Kris Kobach, the Republican Kansas secretary of state who was sued last week by the former Democratic candidate for the Senate who dropped out of the race in favor of an independent.

He also said that he might have shrugg(ed) my shoulders as to indicate well see and seemed to imply that Taylor was making this up as a way to stay on the ballot without angering the national Democrats who Bryant claims forced him to withdraw from the race against his will.
According to election law experts, its unlikely that any of the affidavits will have any effect on the Kansas Supreme Courts decision on this case. Its entirely possible that Chad Taylor will be forced to stay on the ballot and campaign for people not to vote for him.

He served in John Ashcrofts Department of Justice in the Bush administration as his special adviser on immigration and was instrumental in the implementation of the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, the post 9/11 requirement that all Muslims and Middle Eastern citizens in the country on visas register and file their fingerprints with the government. In 2007, Kobach become head of the Kansas state GOP and in a portent of things to come, he instituted a loyalty committee that ended up depriving several GOP officers of their voting rights. Why? Because they had once donated money to Democrats. When it comes to vote suppression, he takes no prisoners.

This guy is evil because he follows the law? Am I misunderstanding something?
Typical Democrat demonization tactics.
We like Kobach here. Overwhelmingly renominated, and will likely be overwhelmingly reelected.
Welcome to Acirema, where the guilty are rewarded and the innocent are punished.
LOL, Heather Parton. One of BartCop’s proteges.
Nope, you pretty much nailed it.
Sec State who refused to go along with Dem scam is now a hit man. These people are insane.
“long illustrious history of conservative vote suppression “
Preventing vote fraud is what is meant by “vote suppression”.
Following the law by a Republican Secretary of State in Kansas--evil.
Kobach is awesome. I like him.
Kobach’s likely got his eye on the 2018 governor’s race.
Well unfortunately following the law to the strict letter was dealt a blow the other day when during oral arguments before the Supreme Court the attorney representing Kobach's office was forced to admit that past Secretaries of State had not followed the strict letter of the law in all cases and that 'substantial compliance' had been acceptable. The court may rule that if that had been allowed in the past then it should be allowed now.
As far as I can tell, Kobach is simply fighting back against the rats as hard as they fight for power.
You’d be hard pressed to find a situation where a conservative says “I know that’s the law, but to be fair we have to XYZ”.
You’ll get that line of reasoning ALWAYS from a ‘rat.
I see.
“In the past, the law was not enforced. But we have decided to enforce the law.”
“How dare you! Start breaking the law like everyone else!”
