Feds to parents: No lunches from home without doctor’s note, school lunch only

It looks like the days of trading half of your peanut butter and jelly sandwich for half of your best friend’s ham sandwich may soon be over if the federal government has anything to do with it.

A Richmond, Virginia mother received the following note, telling her not to pack a lunch for her pre-school age child.

Dear Parents,

I have received word from Federal Programs Preschool pertaining to lunches from home. Parents are to be informed that students can only bring lunches from home if there is a medical condition requiring a specific diet, along with a physicians note to that regard.

I am sorry for any inconvenience. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact Stephanie [redacted] the Health Coordinator for Federal Programs Preschool at [redacted].

Thanks, Ms. [redacted]

That there is such a position is amazing.

The problem is that it isn't any surprise at all. The thick piles of bureacrats at every level of government have got to collapse and suffocate of their own dead weight sooner or later.

Of what relationship is this "Health Coordinator for Federal Programs Preschool" to the company awarded the food contract? What kind of friendly terms are these people on with the White Hut?

How many illegals and/or moslems are preparing the food?

“Pitchforks and torches time!”

Sharpen the pikes. They “hold up” better than rope and are better at dissuading others from continued bad behavior.

I’m not sure if it’s a fed mandate but seems to be policy for some Head Start subsidized schools.

I'm guessing that somebody is making money on each lunch, and NOT making money if students bring lunch from home.

To The Principal:

Please excuse Timmy from attendance.

Enclosed is a note from my doctor indicating public school is harmful to his health and mental well being.

He will be returning to classes....never.

Signed,

PO’d Mom

“Of what relationship is this “Health Coordinator for Federal Programs Preschool” to the company awarded the food contract? “

Bingo. You caught the real reason for the note. The contractor has an exclusive contract to provide up to X amount of meals and they want every meal payment. I would suspect the letter is a fraud referencing the Health Coordinator for Federal Programs Preschool as a scare tactic.

This is ridiculous.

Michelle O needs to rescind these orders.

If the students have to eat the swill, the teachers and admins must sit at the same tables and eat the same food.

Public school officials are there only for as long as you allow them to be.

You get an A+. If you don't like the school administration, it's your own fault for moving into the district or for voting them in. Kick out the idiots. Go to the school board meetings. Visit with your school principal frequently. Be the squeaky wheel. Become a homeroom volunteer. Attend or organize a PTO. Start a phone brigade. Run for school board yourself. Know when to be the squeaky wheel and when to operate behind the scenes.

You wouldn't believe how much hooey I stopped in its tracks when my kids were in school. Most was stopped within the hour and no one ever knew who or how it ended.

I’ve had my own experience with a school lackey making up stuff as a scare tactic in order to siphon off more federal money.

Nothing would surprise me.

Why does the FEDERAL government have any control over what a parent gives their child for lunch?

seriously

Government (public) school is child abuse.

If you hate your kid, send 'em to public school and curse 'em for life.

I’d ask my doctor to write a sarcastic note saying something like this:

Dear Principal:

Susie Smith has been under my care for all of her 11 years. She has a profound love of personal freedom, the kind that, until your sort came increasingly into power in this country, we associated with life in the USA. She has a profound revulsion for centralized authority, including the notion that she must eat either the school lunch or nothing at all.

Accordingly, I write to advise you that she must be permitted to eat a home-packed lunch.

Yours in freedom,

Doctor Zhivago

Undoubtedly true.

Also, a surefire way to sue this requirement out of existence.

Conservatives can do lawfare, too.

What’s beyond me is the fact that parents allow these people to dictate to them concerning their children. I see it on my local news...moms (occasionally dads, in this brave new world of single mothers) who pout and complain about some such problem with a school.

I wouldn’t pout. I would walk in there and let them know that my child will bring lunch from home any time I see fit, and there will be no discussion of the matter.

This has been the rule in school districts in my area for years already.

The justification in one town given was that children with peanut (or other) allergies had to be segregated in school cafeterias. The school officials determined that that was a form of discrimination and so required all students it purchase lunches in the facility and home made lunches were then forbidden.

Of course that is nonsense, but that is how it is done in the Peoples Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
