There is a reason for this but the media have not questioned it and still use the term ISIS. When referencing the words of Obama, it is incumbent on all of us to properly cite his term ISIL, whatever his reasons may be. The term may be interchangeable, but not for O.

OK, I’ve finally figured it out. After reading up on the subject extensively and cataloging real-world experience I now understand why “moderate” Muslims are not criticizing “extremist” Muslims. The truth of it is there are no extreme Muslims nor any moderate Muslims. There are only Muslims and they all believe the same way.
