Forgive the vanity but I wonder what Freepers expect with tonight's speech.
As in: how many strawmen will be set-up and knocked down? How many times will we hear "as I've said many times" and "let me be perfectly clear"? How many times will others be blamed (Bush, the intelligence community, his defense department for not providing him with a strategy, the world in general)? Will he specifically denounce Islamic terrorism or will he dance around that? How many times will the personal pronouns be used to refute the argument that he has waffled and been indecisive in foreign policy? Will he even attempt to assert a long-term objective or will he just waffle and punt that responsibility? Will any kind of detailed strategy be offered? How quickly will the lamestream media pronounce this as a bold and inspiring speech and strategy?
At least, since this is happening at 9PM tonight, he won't be going off to the golf course immediately upon completion.

I agree. I had a disturbing dream about a week ago, where Obama was giving a speech. Lots of horrible things happened, and then I saw a black flag raised at the WH. It was taking place on 9/11 though, or so I thought in my dream.
If he talks about forming a coalition with other nations to fight the IS’es of Islam, there’s no way they’ll agree to anything other than just bombing because he has said repeatedly WE will not put boots on the ground.
You can bet if there are any new military actions taken, it will be laid at the feet of the military advisors and away from himself.

How will he conjure up a convenient definition of "victory," is either none at all, liberating Mosul/Nineveh, of chasing the Black Flaggers out of Iraq's nominal borders. Attacking Syrian territory is, if you will forgive the metaphor, his "tar baby."

Here’s what I expect:
This will be one of his shortest speechs.
His plan:
The main thrust of his speech will involve asking for what he knows Congress will think is an exhorbitant amount of money.
He will be vague and refuse to delineate specifically (even in private) what he will use the money to do.
He knows Congress won’t give him the amount of money he wants because he knows they will suspect that his vagueness indicates he will use most of it as a Democrat slush fund (as usual).
This will give him the excuse he’s looking for to do nothing meaningful since he can then blame Congress for not giving him “enough” money.
Hope I’m wrong, but I doubt it. He has a long track record.
If you note the hypocrisy between what Obama and the liberals said during the Bush years, and what they are saying now, am I a racist?

In Iraq Obama wants to supply air and intelligence support to Kurdish and Iraqi ground forces against ISIL. He wants to do the same for Syria but who will be our boots on the ground there against ISIL?

Personally, I believe 0 uses "ISIL" in an attempt to deflect attention from his spectacularly stupid 2011 blunder wherein he stated: ‘We’re Leaving Behind a Sovereign, Stable, Self-Reliant Iraq’.
