Several Republican candidates in the year's most competitive Senate races have begun their fall sprint to Election Day, not by embracing Tea Party-fueled conservatism but by defensively tacking leftward.
Lets start in Colorado, site of a strategic GOP retreat in the War on Women. The Republican backtracking there is being done by Rep. Cory Gardner, following withering attacks by Democrats on his past support for personhood amendments that bestow rights to fertilized human eggs and effectively ban some forms of birth control. Gardner released an ad claiming he would make access to the pill
cheaper and easier than would his opponent, Sen. Mark Udall, by ending the need for prescriptions. This tactic quickly spread. In his first debate with Sen. Kay Hagan, North Carolina Republican nominee Thom Tillis embraced the same plan.

When a political party doesn't stand for nothing, and meekly adopt a little less radical approach but still accept the Left's premise and narrative, the base will get discouraged and others will simply vote for the Dem anyway. This has always happened going back to the days of Alf Landon.
All this tip-toeing around so as not to scare those precious independents and Hispanics are going to backfire big-time on the GOP.
Vote for the communist, or vote for the communist sympathizer!
You decide! Yeah America!
Suddenly??
Seriously who writes this crap?
Republicans have been “liberal” since before Lincoln. Look up “Ripon Republican,” “Teddy Roosevelt,””John Lindsay,”and “Rockefeller Republican” sometime.
Primary season is over it’s time for the Republicans to swing left and the Democrats to swing right.
Have you seen Udall’s commercials? All hat no cattle.
I agree, who writes this crap?
Why Are Republicans Suddenly Leaning Left?
Good propaganda.....
People who say the GOP-e is “suddenly leaning left” have not been paying attention for the last half-century.
Republican progressives....
When was the last time the Democrats really swung right? The late 1700s when they were still the Democratic Republicans?
Suddenly?
Riiiiiiiight.
How are you going to do that Mr. Gardner?
Going to pull the cash out of your own pocket?
I just love these politicians pledging to use other peoples money to buy votes.
Dont you?
How do you tell when a politician is lying? His lips move.
Of course neither party actually changes for election season they just change the tone of their puppet show to attracted the ignorant and uninformed, also known as “moderates”.
I doubt Gardner has any real plans to make contraceptives less expensive and I KNOW Udall has no plans to implement any of that crap he’s putting out in his commercials.
It wasn’t sudden..
the GOP picked liberal Willard Mitt Romney in 2012..
“When was the last time the Democrats really swung right? The late 1700s when they were still the Democratic Republicans?”
The ‘conservative coalition’ consisted largely of western Republicans and southern Democrats. It battled liberal legislation in the House from the 1930s until the mid 1960s. Shadows of it remained until about 1990.
Lyndon Johnson helped weaken that coalition and the Democratic right began abandoning the party when the McGovern faction took over in 1972.
Because 50% of the vote pays over 97% of the income taxes and there is no way to further cut taxes or spending (from a Congresscritter’s point of view, anyway), so they are going for the “free stuff” votes - the bottom 50%.
Unfortunately, they can’t figure out that they can’t buy the “free stuff” from the Democrats, because the Democrats will always outbid them.
They won’t win the senate. conservatives do not compromise with traitors
Because no republican stands for the RIGHT thing,
Oh, the alleged southern Democrats again. Funny how they couldn’t stop presidents like Wilson or FDR from gaining power.
