According to Cambridge University, Meat Causes Global Warming
American Thinker ^ | 09/06/2014 | Paul Austin

Posted on 09/06/2014 5:20:21 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Researchers from Aberdeen and Cambridge Universities have just published a study (on August 31st) which states that greenhouse gases from food production will go up 80% if we continue to eat meat and dairy produce at today's levels.

Of course global-warming activists (as well as academics) have said this kind of thing before.

Take Doctor Pachauri.

In 2008 Dr Pachauri told a Compassion in World Farming conference that everyone should give up eating meat. Why did he do that? Because he believed that the digestive methane given off by cattle (i.e. flatulence) contributed more to greenhouse gases than all the world's transport put together. Though as Christopher Booker pointed out:

“As vegetarian Hindu, Pachauri said nothing about the contribution to global warming made by India's 400 million sacred cows.” (245)

Doctor Pachauri is neither an expert in dietary matters nor a scientist with specialised knowledge of atmospheric physics, astronomy, oceanography, geology, meteorology, chemistry, etc. (i.e., all the disciplines required in the “science of global warming”). He is (or was), in fact, a former railway engineer and economist who then became the chairman of the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, along with Al Gore, in 2007.

Now take a slightly later case.

In 2009, the Sustainable Development Unit of the UK's National Health Service (NHS) - which was then under the Labour Party control - published a report entitled 'Saving Carbon – Improving Health' . It advised all Britain's NHS hospitals to serve “nutritious fruit, veg and pulses” rather than meat and diary products. The reason why the NHC advised this was because it believed that meat and milk production contributed to the unacceptable rise in greenhouse gases.

Algore living in a house that consumes more energy than the average suburban subdivision causes global warming.

IF MEAT WAS THE CAUSE OF HOT AIR AND GLOBAL GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS, CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY MORE GASES ARE EMITTED FROM THIS FELLOW EVEN AS HE HAS AVOIDED MEAT FOR YEARS...

Maybe. Who knows? Anything that was once living and dies produces methane. Decaying plants and microorganisms produce over 99% of the world's methane. On this scale, cow farts don't even register.

The flatulance wafting from ivory halls of fake ivy consumes all the oxygen from the brains of those who inhabit their towers. Edicts from there on high reflect a certain air of indifference to all who live below. The sentiment is reciprocated.

Somebody should remind these folks that THEY are meat, too.

Would be interesting to know who funded this study, how much does it cost to buy a lie.

Has anyone ever considered the emission of buffalo. They used to roam the vast ranges of this country that are now farmed or used for raising cattle. How did the world not fry from the millions of buffalo that used to roam America?

And the Hindu head of the commission who condemned eating beef will probably NOT be the head of the movement to reduce global warming by demanding that cattle, as a species be eradicated from the planet to save it from global warming. That is an action that must happen if cattle are such a threat, and will be justified by the same/similar reasons that the folks who say humanity must be eradicated are using.

And while we are on the topic of bovine farting, what about the farting of other grass eaters that the ‘save the animals’ folks are campaigning for such as elephants, they must produce a lot of methane because of their size, it is just that there is not a market the meat, just the ivory tusks. And after that horses, donkeys, mules, and eventually all of the herbivores, we need to get rid of them to eliminate the methane they produce.

Here is an idea. We can have a debate between AlBore and the perfesser to see which is responsible for a phenomenon that doesn’t exist! That would be fun.

Ohay then!

And BTW, there is no such thing as "the science of global warming." It's simply an invented and flawed theory.

This beyond hysterical. The guy was a freaking railroad engineer and economist. I suppose the two are closely linked!.

I guess next year he'll be studying astronomy.
