(CNSNews.com) – While unemployment nationwide is 6.1%, the unemployment rate for black Americans at 11.4% is more than double the rate for white Americans, who have an unemployment rate of 5.3%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
The unemployment rate for Latino Americans, at 7.5%, is also lower than the unemployment rate for blacks, the BLS data show.
For black Americans, age 16 and older, seasonally adjusted, the unemployment rate between July and August stayed the same at 11.4%, and that is up from the 10.7% rate in June. The last time the black unemployment rate was 11.4% was more than 5 years ago, in October 2008. (It was at a low 7.6% in August 2007.)

Keep in mind these are imaginary BLS numbers which probably understate reality (for everyone) by at least 50%.

I have long thought the actual unemployment was 20-30%, not this BS of 8%.
It would be interesting to look at the statistics if you only included Private Industry, and excluded Government jobs.
Is it possible that Black unemployment rate is higher because they are not as easily able to obtain SSI? I know lots of people on SSI/SSDI and some of them genuinely need to be on it, but then I also know some bums who are collecting. Everyone of those bums is white.

Give the guy a chance...it’s only been six years, I mean, he has at least one more year of blaming all his early failures on George W...doesn’t he. I mean you can’t really expect a man with as many accomplishments as he has to tackle all these things at once do you. I mean, he has a Nobel Peace Prize for Christ sake. Back off the guy and give him some time and room to really work his magic, I bet he is just getting warmed up. We ain’t seen nuth’n yet!

IIRC, being officially unemployed gets you benefits.
Some folks are good at being professionally unemployed and securing benefits.
Many are genuinely unemployed and not looking for work AND also not taking UE benefits.
One drives stats up, the other down.
