Iran’s supreme leader authorized cooperation with the United States to combat the Islamic State in Iraq.
According to the BBC, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei gave his approval for Gen. Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Revolutionary Guards Qods Force to work with the US and other countries battling IS.

Reminds me of China during the second world war.
The Kuomintang party under Chiang Kai Shek was at war with the Communists under Mao Tse Tung. But when the Japanese invaded China, both parties cooperated and allied with each other to fight the Japanese.
After the defeat of Japan, guess what? They started killing each other again...
The rest is history ( We still have Taiwan and Red China ).

ISIS is Sunni Muslim and Iran is Shia, and they consider each other as departing from the true faith.
They are Sunni.
For the same reason every other existing government does not. They want to take over and throw the existing rulers out, or just kill them. Besides, they're Arabs and Iran doesn't really like them (or anyone else) either.
So ... if we want to kill Sunni Muslims its ok with the Shia Iranians ...

Good call. FDR is the one who saved Patton’s bacon after that silly, overblown slapping a soldier incident. He was the best kind of fighting General we needed at the time and would be drummed out of the service in today’s PC military. Can you imagine how terrified our enemies would be if we could unleash another Patton on today’s battlefield. (I know, I am dreaming again.).
