"Our strategy is to do direct voter contact," Steyer said in a recent interview. "Particularly in an off-year election, which depends more on turnout, actually having people going out and directly speaking with voters face to face is actually the thing that changes elections."

Meanwhile, the Koch brothers continue to attempt to buy votes in order to control the entire government. Wait. What. Sorry. For some reason I had a buzzing in my ear. It was just a hairy screed gnat. Don't suppose the ldm will say anything negative about steyer or any of the other misguided uber rich assclowns coughing up bundles of money for the libs/progs/socialists/commies/dhimmi-okkkrats.

There’s no need for wealthy liberals to maintain the pretense that they’re not simply purchasing votes - the Democrats in congress long ago dropped that pretense.

This POS Steyer is running ads against Terri Land about being supported by the Koch brothers. Then he gets into how the Koch brothers are polluting with coal ash. Makes no mention about the millions he made off of selling the coal making the ash.

Can you say hypocrite.

I saw a spokesman from Center for American Progress on CSpan. He said liberals like George Soros donate to benefit Americans. Liberal Donors do not benefit in any way like the Koch Brothers do.

The Stupid Party (the GOP) should just respond saying they are supported by George Soros- he has a much worse name

What will he do--start telling the truth?

Anyone else remember back in the 2008 cycle how the Obama Campaign was going door to door with GPS trackers and being VERY aggressive in their canvassing in order to capture all sorts of data on people?

It was so they could do things like this. Under the radar outreach that can drive election day turnouts different than what the polls say. In two cycles now (08 and 12) the Dems have proven themselves masters at it.

Romney lost in 2012 in large part because his GOTV system, called ORCA, died brutally early in the morning of election day. The GOP has apparantly invested $100 million in another system for this election day. Hopefully they will have stress tested it AND have paper-list backups ready for this year.

Your excellent post explains why the White House took control of the census from the Department of Commerce before the 2012 elections.

During the George W. Bush administration we saw the GOP adopt a passive strategy. It failed to respond to the most outlandish attacks (war on women, racism) by the opposition and failed to go on the offensive on issues which resonated with middle America. During this campaign cycle the party has once again failed to define itself and is allowing what should be a weak Democrat Party define the issues and Republicans.

If Rove is so brilliant, why can’t he and the other GOP consultants come up with a coherent message? 2014 begs for a new “contract for America” yet 60 days from election day there is silence. It seems they are satisfied with retaining the house and possibly capturing the Senate by one or two vote (or not capturing the Senate) when this could be a wave election such as the Democrats experienced in 2006 and 2008.

Here are the issues that should be a dagger in the heart of the Democrat Party:

The economy, specifically the absence of good jobs and unreported high food and energy inflation. Given the Republicans have no message here, the Democrats are framing the economic issue as a need for a higher minimum wage.

Open borders and the impact on jobs and national security. Stop letting the Democrats talk about “immigration reform”, talk about “open borders” and national security.

Obamacare. Speak to higher costs, less choice, and the absence of any improvement in the quality of care.

Federal deficit. Propose a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. Come up with a list of all of the wasted money - Solyndra for example.

What Rove and the GOPe doesn’t seem to understand, when you are silent, someone else will dominate the discussion. On second thought perhaps they do understand and their real goal is to lose.

When you let legislatures control what can be bought and sold, the first thing to be offered up for sale are legislators.

“Our strategy is to do direct voter contact . . . “

Chicago politics writ large. If anyone’s curious about how a slimeball like Rahm Emanuel, who’s spent most of his life outside Chicago could be elected mayor, or how scumbags like Blago or incompetents like Quinn could end up as governor in Illinois, it’s exactly that strategy: free-loaders and morons get dragged to the polls by ward-heelers to vote the party line or else, and the result is one-party rule that ultimately leads to Detroit.

What’s needed to take that strategy national is money and organization - jerkweed leftists like Steyer and Soros are supplying the former, and groups like Acorn and Organizing for Obama/America, along with the unions, will provide the latter. I don’t know if that can stem the tide of disgust directed at BO and his policies, but it does not bode well for the country as a whole.

Yup. I used to get the ofa bulletins so I could stay up with their latest attempts to destroy the country but it was on the verge of giving me ulcers so I unsubscribed. I just couldn’t believe the garbage they were pumping out. So, “Dear Friend” went bye bye. Sadly, there are too many simple minded takers out there that ingest this crap and I think they truly believe it. After all, close to 40% still approve of the lyin’king which is pretty scary.
