If I were being totally honest, I would say that it has not been my experience that very many left-leaning folks in this country want to have an honest dialogue on the key issues that separate left from right. This is particularly true amongst the academically credentialed leftists I have encountered who presumably know they have nothing to gain by exposing their worldview or ability to defend it.

1. Do you believe public employee unions have been a constructive force in American society or a destructive one?
2. Are you for MORE government in American lives or LESS government?
3. Would you consider the war on poverty of the last fifty years to have been a success?
4. Do you like big money in politics or dislike it?
5. Does the economy function better with greater regulation or less regulation?
I don’t befriend libs. I simply do not trust their morality, judgment, and reasoning ability. No joke.
When I am marched off to a camp, when I am beaten, or when I am shot?
I befriend them because I want to laugh at them. I need my entertainment..
Unfortunately for some of us, we have relatives that are liberal....
I do have Liberal friends and family members. But I don’t talk politics with them. It is as Ronaldus Magnus once said - “the problem with our Liberal friends is that they ‘know’ so much that isn’t true.” They are so bound up in believing so many cockamammy things that you can’t ever get past the wall of untruths and half-truths to engage them. And anyway, none of them really want to talk with someone who doesn’t share their worldview.
The comments at the end of the article are a real hoot. :)
“Why do you think Capital punishment is morally wrong but abortion is morally acceptable”
6. Would this be a better world if we all eat the way Michelle Obama tells us to?
These should be reformulated:
1. How have public employee unions been a constructive force in American society?
2. How is a larger and more powerful government a positive thing?
3. How has the war on poverty of the last fifty years been a success?
4. How did big money to the Democrats advance progressive campaign finance goals?
5. How does greater regulation help the economy?
Liberals are a waste of time. It’s impossible to rationalize with them unless you’re having a short discussion on pretty flowers.
There is no reasoning with the liberal mind. If you attempt to discuss anything with them, they’ll immediately go off on a tangent to one of their standard talking points.
And you can never trust a liberal.
Yes, I thought the questions were weak, designed to allow the Liberal to talk endlessly.
And you can never trust a liberal.
That’s for sure. If they could do so, “Progressives” would load us on the cattle cars and smirk while doing it.
I agree - far too much wiggle room. More effective questions go to the heart of leftist/liberal premises and their world view.
Lost causes.......aren’t my causes.
