Putin's recent remarks threatening Finalnd and Sweden is pushing them closer to a defensive alliance with NATO as a general war in Europe looms as a consequence of the Russian invasions.

Putin and his supporters, both foreign and domestic, are trying to reconstruct Russian power and recreate the Cold War, and perhaps with an ending more to their liking this time.

If the Fins want to scare the Russians, they need to hold the exercise in the dead of winter and call it something like “Operation White Death.” That would get the Russian's attention.

Europe can do nothing as Russia becomes larger threat everyday or NATO can become larger and become an increased threat to Russia.

Russia is the enemy not western nations. Some posts on FR these days are right out of DU.
