The Government wont waste its time on us old farts that know what game the Government is trying to play. The Government will put its time and effort into using Obamacare to force mothers to have their newborns “chipped” or lose their health care for life if they refuse. All it will take is one generation to get most everybody “chipped” and most people will thank the Government for the effort...

I believe you are absolutely correct on the aspect of alteration. However, I do believe we ARE there yet.
Gene therapy is a reality... and implantable chips are a primary method of delivery.
Is the medical rfid the mark? probably not by itself... but every major tech deployment goes through it’s live testing phase, and there is no question in my mind that the actual mark is undergoing very rigorous final stage testing as we speak.
Nothing says “the time is NOW!!! to unlock that gun cabinet and go all medieval on them” like a canceled federal election.
Or as Bill Engvall would put it: “Here’s yer sign.”
For that reason I think it WILL happen. In 2016 anyway.

In contrast to your idea that it involves an order, recently I heard a preacher opining that the mark would be willingly received. He said it will be something that people actually want and then find out too late what they’ve done. He was speculating that it may involve genetic alteration, perhaps seeking enhanced intelligence, extended life or even immortality.
I’m not suggesting you are wrong because I don’t know. Thirty years ago I thought I had a solid grip on eschatology. Over the years I have become much less certain on the whole topic. I’m just throwing this out there.

Good theory regarding the corrupting of DNA. I’ve never thought about it from that point of view.

I believe you are right. One thing I learned when I was doing work for the Feds is that they are approximately 10 - 15 years ahead in their technological advancements beyond what we think they are. I believe that they onceal this information from the public because they know it would cause panic if they truly knew what their capabilities were. So yes I believe this is something they have in the works and will not reveal until they make it mandator, not optional, to receive.

I think you’re reading a little too much into it; the Bible doesn’t use the word “permanent” in it’s description of it, plus it won’t need to be “permanent,” as there will only be around 3 1/2 years to have it before the Lord comes back to set up His kingdom on this earth. There is also the possibility that this refers to Israel and those aligned with and helping her during this time.
The beast, or anti-Christ will set himself up in the temple in Jerusalem to be worshiped.
