Egyptian Feminist Poops, Menstruates on Islamic State Flag [graphic image at link]

Egyptian feminist Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, 23, challenges the strict nature of Islam on her blog and Facebook pages. She went a step further in her protest against the Islamic State (IS) with a photo of Elmahdy and a veiled woman pooping and menstruating on the black IS flag.

Arab nations did not print the photo because the flag states “there is no God but Allah.” Elmahdy did not explain why she took the photo, but she protests Islamic laws, and IS implements strict Sharia Law. Women must wear full veils and not leave the house without a male relative. The jihadists have even forced shopkeepers to fully veil all mannequins. In Raqqa, Syria, an Islamic State stronghold, a crowd stoned two women to death for allegedly committing adultery.

The majority of Muslims do not agree with IS. Several prominent Muslim leaders and scholars have condemned the terrorist group. However, not everyone agreed with Elmahdy’s photo, including fellow liberal Muslims.

In 2011, she caused outrage among strict and liberal Muslims when she posed nude in photos on her Facebook. She claimed the photos “scream against a society of violence, racism, sexism, sexual harassment and hypocrisy.” The secular Muslims did not agree.

“This hurts the entire secular current in front of those calling themselves the people of virtue,” said secularist Sayyed el-Qimni. "It's is a double disaster. Because I am liberal and I believe in the right of personal freedom, I can't interfere."

The idea that women should lower themselves into the gutter as a protest is retarded and backwards thinking.

"I have to ask: Are you Muslim, by any chance?"

LOL!

As an aside, let's keep in mind that not all Muslim women are helpless prisoners. Some of them are only too eager to strap on bombs and blow up infidels.

Thousands of men just went blind at the very thought of such a thing.

I favor bombs...lots and lots of bombs. Bunker busters, even. I daresay those are more effective than messing oneself on a flag.

That was a well thought-out post, IMO.

Yes, butterdezillion is certainly earnest in her views and her passions. But I myself also recall that she was given a temporary vacation by the forum’s owner for nutcase conspiracy theories, and for arguing relentlessly that Freepers, even moderators, are Obama plants.

I believe these breathless posts comparing the gross actions of this woman to Jesus Christ, and holding her up as some kind of saint who’s waging an effective war against Islam, is equally misguided.

A simple search for info on Elmahdy reveals that she is, as she describes herself, an atheist and a feminist who loves stripping in public. Yeah, she despises Islam...good for her. Join the club. But degrading herself on a flag is about as effective as NFL players wearing pink shoes in October.

Because I asked you what effective options these women have, to get the rest of the world to care about their plight, you think I’m in the porn industry?

Or is it because I dared to note that the Christ - who you say you follow - died for sinners, associated with them, and told others to stop bugging them when their actions were misunderstood and condemned without thought to the REASONS for the actions?

If I wanted a “god” who uses any excuse he can find to condemn people who are already loaded down and suffering, I’d look to the Muslim demon-god. The Christ I follow came to seek and to save the lost and gave everything - including His very life and His “respectability” - to save sinners like me and you, in our deep need. While we were still sinners, while we were mocking His grace, Jesus died for us. There is night-and-day difference between the demon-god of Islam and the Triune God of the Bible (Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier). And what you are presenting most closely resembles the Muslim demon-god.

I said I was done conversing with you but I had to speak this one more time, to make sure that nobody gets confused by you saying you follow Christ, because the Christ you project is not the Christ I know. The Christ I know lifted His whole naked body for this woman - and for me, because though not a pornographer I am just as much a sinner as she is - and allowed the crowd to mock that naked body when He pooped or peed on the cross, or when they spat above his eyebrow so the spit would roll into His eyes and He was powerless to do anything about it. He went outside the camp, to the place of shame, because I and this woman were so precious to Him, while we were still nothing but sinners. He saw our helpless condition and instead of walking away coldly on the other side, too “holy” to get Himself dirty from an “unclean Samaritan”, He did whatever it took to save us.

I want to be like that. I want to go where He goes and do the work that He’s doing. I’m sick of people sitting on the outside with their martinis and bejeweled fingernails, booing and hissing at the people Jesus is working to save. I’m tired of people having to be holier than Jesus, and condemning Him all over again for associating with sinners.

Jesus is not like the demon-god of Islam. He is totally different. And He is totally different than the image that much of the “saved” people project of Him.

Freepers and lurkers who are caught in pornography or any other sin - you are NOT beyond redemption. You are precious to Jesus, and His suffering and death are able to set you free from the guilt and the power of the sin you struggle with. If your sin is a response to something painful in your life - such as abuse, abortion, etc - know that no matter how thick a wall you put up around yourself, it is not more than Jesus is willing to work through in order to save you. He is not scared off by muck and grime. He believes in you even when you don’t believe in yourself, and He has no interest in blaming you for your response to hurts - but has every interest in healing those hurts and bringing you to a place of freedom and hope. He doesn’t lay heavy burdens on you and then refuse to lift a finger to help. He takes up your heavy burden for you, and He lifted His body on the cross to pay the just price for all your sin. He is TOTALLY different than the demon-god of Islam.

That’s what I needed to say.

I just thought of something. This woman is Egyptian. Maybe she’s working with Egyptian law enforcement to hunt down and arrest the ISIS people who are now making death threats against her. Maybe her ploy was the perfect bait to get these invisible underground terrorists in Europe and elsewhere to out themselves and to be caught BEFORE they do more damage. If so, then this woman may be helping to keep ALL of us safer.

And the strategy is brilliant.

It’s a shibboleth test. They can’t help but issue death threats. It’s what they do. It’s traceable, it’s actionable, and it reveals who is who.

Brilliant strategy!

The Egyptians are smarter than we are, by a long shot.

Butter, is there any evidence this is what's going on? It seems to be some idea that occurred to you a couple of posts ago, and now you're acting as though it's fact.

If it was the strategy there probably wouldn’t be any public evidence of it. I have no idea whether they are doing this or not, but if they aren’t they should be.

I don’t know what we can do to help, other than relentlessly pray for them. For now. And not forget them. (I doubt that anyone who ever interacts with them, can) I still search their blogs from time to time to see if there’s any news, but I never, ever forget them.

Some Muslims (women *and* men) want out from under that tyranny & some don’t. Make no mistake. Men suffer the same brutality that the women do. They are raped, tortured, imprisoned, & just executed the same way. It is unfathomable. Demonic.

It’s like the “saying”, a person has to want help. So far, the Persians & the Egyptians are the only ones who have made any effort toward their freedom. This Egyptian woman has done this at a time when she could. A Lebanese woman *might* be able to get away with it. I don’t want to think about the fate of any Persian or Palestinian woman who attempted 1/10th as much. Or Yemen, or any of the other Muslim countries, either. Some of the Asian countries seem like they could get pretty hairy.

One thing I gathered from my associations was that they (the Persians, at least) want to overthrow their “governments” themselves & that outside interference would cause them to coalesce around those governments. I don’t get this, but whatever. Regardless, I believe that they have earned their freedom & that they would do much more (short of becoming monsters, themselves- which they seem acutely aware of) if they could.
The Egyptians are well on the road to theirs. Godspeed.

I’m not going to change your mind about the nature of this woman’s actions & you’re not going to change mine. I find it outrageous & crazy “even” if it were a man doing it. (e.g. the “occupier” & the patrol car) My contempt for feminism aside.

On a side note, wrt to people- especially Christians, we *are* standing by- AGAIN, watching another holocaust take shape. Maybe it’s denial, I don’t know. Or self-centeredness. Or even “sheeping”. But we (again, not all of us) seem to have not learned a flippin’ thing. I don’t know what more could happen besides someone putting up a flashing neon sign that says “Get ready. We’re going to slaughter Jews. And Whites. And anyone who doesn’t go along with us”. Oh wait. They already have, multiple times & growing. Hello? Are we just waiting for the pogroms to start or what?
I don’t know what to do about it, either, but it’s worrying the crap out of me. One thing we could do is learn the history, get educated & HAVE the argument. Counter it. Not Morris Dees/ Mark Potok type bs, but for real. Shine a light on it.(Come to think of it, that method would be effective for Muslims as well. At least, it might stop the spread. That’s what’s dangerous.)

Catherine, thanks. Sometimes, emotion/ passion can get people a little wound up (myself).

There’s not much that you’ve said that I actually disagree with, and it sounds like you’ve got your heart in the right place with respect to the plight of the women - and men, as you say, and children too - who are trapped right now. Part of my reaction may be my own feeling of guilt at being outraged and then never really doing anything to help - over and over again. There’s got to be something we can do to help. I think about it all the time, worry about it, and tell myself I’m doing what I can. But I know at this point I’m really not helping these people except with my prayers. You know a lot more about the way the different groups deal with all this than I do, and I defer to you on that.

We have a saying in our family: “All sounds from the labor room are OK.” When a person is going through the fire they do whatever they have to do to get through it, and those who are not going through the fire can’t possibly understand and should no way sit in judgment. How do we know how we would react in war? Would we defy “conventions” when we see they are failing over and over again? I don’t know why this gal did what she did, but I’m really hesitant to judge her harshly, not having walked in her shoes.

What she did could be used to “smoke out” ISIS wherever they are hiding in free lands. It could be an effective strategy. But the nasty parts of war - including the propaganda war - are not for the queasy. I know that I would have qualms over what the military has to do in order to protect this country, and I’m thankful that they are not queasy about it. I’m one of the gentle people who sleep quietly in their beds at night because there are rough men willing to do violence on our behalf. I am NOT going to fault them because they are not in the same station in life as I am. There is a time for peace, but there’s also a time for war. And sometimes there’s a time to do whatever it takes even if it’s beyond what you would even dream of doing under normal circumstances.

I don’t know enough to make a sound judgment of what this woman did or why, so I leave it to the Lord. And I don’t think He’s done with her yet.

I appreciate your reasoned tone, and believe we are mostly on the same page.

She is simply a vile pornographer and that is how this will be remembered.

Maybe. I'd put more money on the martyr angle though.

A martyr doesn’t have to have a faith. A person can be a martyr for a cause, in this case the defeat of ISIS.
