Millions helped by Obama health law may get hit with reduced tax refunds unless they act soon

Taxes? Who wants to think about taxes around Labor Day?

But if you count on your tax refund and you're one of the millions getting tax credits to help pay health insurance premiums under President Barack Obama's law, it's not too early.

Here's why: If your income for 2014 is going to be higher than you estimated when you applied for health insurance, then complex connections between the health law and taxes can reduce or even eliminate your tax refund next year.

Funny, I first thought it read:

Yep, the predicted true-up of income. How many are going to blame their Navigators for advising a low-ball estimate to get that big subsidy.

But if you count on your tax refund and you're one of the millions getting tax credits money taken from producers to help pay health insurance premiums under President Barack Obama's law, it's not too early.

Fixed.

They will be taught to blame the Republicans for blocking needed improvements in the law. It is always somebody else’s fault. Obama prime directive.

Actually, leftists now blame the “insurance companies” for all of the Obamacare problems. It’s code for “we want single payer.” This way it becomes acceptable to criticize Obamacare even though they voted for the Marxist.

Will this also apply to the negative income tax known as E.I.T.C.?

I've never understood the logic of getting a ‘tax refund’. Loaning the govt your money at 0% interest doesn't seem like a wise financial move.

Better to adjust your withholding so you zero-out at tax time, and put those funds to work by buying a conservative stock, or into an interest bearing account.

Quite the cute headline for reporting bad news for Obozocare. I’m surprised the media doesnt use this tactic more often when reporting on it.

“Despite helping millions of americans and helping poor babies and children with cancer and disabled veterans and pregnant women, many Americans still oppose obozocare.”

I agree; I usually end up owing a couple of hundred to either the fed or state, while the other offsets it with a refund. The government will step in if you owe too much, and make you adjust your withholdings.

The term “tax refund” is laughable! People pay thousands in taxes in a year and get hundreds back in April. It was designed so that people would love their government for giving them money! People forget and/or don’t notice the money being taken every pay check. Then you see ads on TV for H&R Block of people smiling and waving a check around for $1,730. Truth in advertising should say…”I got $1730! And it only cost me $10,000”!

“I've never understood the logic of getting a ‘tax refund’.”

I agree. the article is silly. They don't want to admit that those on Obamacare are going to pay higher taxes. By wording it the way they did, they figure they lessen the blow for those that consider refund money, to be money from the government rather than a loan to the government from our pockets.

Even if they are not making more, from what I understand the amount was an estimate so no telling what they will end up paying, or more likely what all of us will end up paying in higher taxes to pay for this boondoogle.

As much as I dislike obammycare.... I gotta say the insurance companies are a close second.

My wife and I have an individual policy. So far we've been able to keep that plan. We've been told that we don't have to become obammycare compliant until 2017. So I'm not part of the obamacare pool, yet my insurance company raised my annual premium almost 40% when obammycare went into effect.

Its all a racket.

The insurance companies are losing money on the plans they are forced to offer under ObamaCare. They have to get the money somewhere and people that have individual care are going to be the first target. Those in a group plan will be hit less for now, but all of us are going to suffer one way or another.

Certainly that's what they say. Being forced to insure people with pre-existing conditions. I'm not sure I believe what the insurance companies tell us anymore than I believe what obammy says.

What do the leftists expect when there are no pre-existing conditions, tramsgender reassignment surgery, and birth control added PLUS the Feds trying to get in on the action and profit from the healthcare premiums by knocking the out of pocket and deductibles up through the roof. The Feds don’t want to pay your medical bills. You can’t afford Obamacare? No problem. They’ll just send you a bill penalty for almost 10K for a family of 4 if you can’t afford to pay the bill. Obamacare is a racket. The Russian and Italian mobs are kicking themselves for not thinking of this sooner
