Dats a speecy spicy tamale!
I won’t argue. They are a ton of work.
I looked a recipe once and said...not so much!
But I have a good friend that makes them around Christmas...sells them cheap. The potato tamales and the bean, cheese and jalepeno tamales are to die for. I buy enough for all year and freeze them.
Now I have to admit, smuggling cocaine in them is pretty innovative. But not being of a criminal mind...I can understand why I might not think of wasting a perfectly good homemade tamale to smuggle drugs.
Tamales are a hell of a food.
I was off a zero.... aren’t we all?
All those are great too, but I like food that fights back.
It is a Christmasty thing and my friends make them pork and raisins.
Just not my cup of tea.
I like hot and savory.
Like ol Humblegunner sez.. “i like a gun that talks back”
Guitars, too.
I have a tortilla press and make my own corn Masa tortillas but tamales aint my thing.
Pork and raisins sounds like it would be sweet...so we probably agree on that type of tamale. :)
The smell of mexican food makes me sick. Refried beans and smoking, rancid vegetable oil. These foods are banned from the house. Peasant food.
That is traditionally what I find served at Christmas.
It aint bad, it just aint my thing.
I like hot and savory.
I used to work with a Mexican gal, and her mom made turkey tamales every year around the holidays. Man, those things were goood!
Tele with vintage radius and high action?
Jeepus? Vegetable oil?
Good Lord man, it is fried in Manteca... Pork Lard, just like all Americans used to do.
Thats what bring on flavor country.
Great source for manteca is the butcher counter at the local Mexican market. They’ll sell it to you in little tubs. It’ll be in liquid form and very flavorful — not the hydrogenated stuff.
If this peasant doesn’t get Tex-Mex at least once a week I will go and buy a frozen dinner and douse it with picante.
But you know what they say..different strokes for different folks. :)
