The president of the world's most populous Muslim-majority country, Indonesia, has called the actions of Islamic State militants "embarrassing" to the religion and urged Islamic leaders to unite in tackling extremism.
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said the scale of the slaughter wrought by the extremists in overrunning large swathes of Iraq and Syria and the level of violence being used was appalling.
"It is shocking. It is becoming out of control," he said in an interview with The Australian, a day after IS released a video showing a masked militant beheading US reporter James Foley, provoking worldwide revulsion.
"We do not tolerate it, we forbid ISIS in Indonesia," he added, referring to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, as IS was formerly known.

A group of Indonesian men have appeared in a recruitment video released by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) urging Indonesian Muslims to join the group's fight.
The eight-minute video posted online by ISIS, titled Join the Ranks, says it is an obligation for Muslims to join the group and pledge allegiance.
The video features an emotional address from an Indonesian man named Abu Muhammad al-Indonesi.
"Put all your effort into using your physical and financial strength to migrate to the Islamic State," Abu Muhammad says in the video.
"It is an obligation decreed by Allah."
Abu Muhammad questions Muslim men living in the West, calling on them to find the motivation to wage jihad.
So it is fairly obvious that President Yudhoyono is pretty concerned that ISIS is going to swallow up his country.
After all, it's just Muslims acting like Muslims.
