What a bunch of horse hockey!
You lose the right to self defense if you are accused of a crime?

Wow, I didn’t think a simple indictment would do that. I thought it had to be a felony conviction. Damn.

I’m not especially fond of him either but I do enjoy seeing liberals worry about it.

I believe that all of TX DPS works for the Guv. That’s at least 2500 plus State Troopers.

I still won't vote for Perry. He's a liberal.

That said, I will support him in his fight against Travis County Prosecutor's Office.

I'm fine with the liberals fretting themselves bald over it.

Still won't vote for him.

I wasn't really kidding (too much) when I advocating nuking Austin.

I'd have to find a new lady-friend, but I could cope.

I’ll vote for the most conservative in the race, primary and general. If it is him, he will get my vote.

If we manage to have someone more conservative on the ticket, I’ll vote for that one.

Once you’re indicted in TX, your CHL is immediately suspended.

The ticket will include those in the Constitution Party, etc....

It's not a two-party ticket.

“Isn’t that presumption of guilt? I could understand if he was charged with a violent crime or something like that.”

Why, yes it is! I have always thought that the prohibition for indictment was unconstituitonal.

This could be a good case to show the need for reform of the law.

After I posted the question I went back & checked to see what penalties she received. Not much - because she knew how to game the system. Good comments on how she got away with ‘time off for good behavior’ etc.,

see here:http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/as-lehmberg-heads-to-jail-new-details-about-bookin/nXRjb/

She left the packed courtroom quietly on Friday to start serving her sentence: 45 days in jail and a $4,000 fine under a plea agreement.

Beginning May 23, her license will also be suspended for 180 days. She waived her right to appeal.

Does the CINC of Texas need a CHL in his official capacity?

He is governor, after all, and there's so very little he can do in Texas as governor.

I'm aware of the law, since I'm from here.

I'd still pay to see the arguments in the case.

Sounds like my nasty ex-wife’s nasty sister? Heh.

Texas needs Constitutional carry.

Yeah, I was wrong.

However, I was certain of my wrong facts, and hopefully that counts for something!

I recall G. Gordon Liddy mentioning once that he could no longer buy or own a gun.
But he then said his wife had a large arsenal. :^)

"Perry, while under indictment, can’t buy guns or ammo from a licensed dealer or from an individual. And he can’t accept guns or ammo as gifts.

And it doesn't stop there. Even after the charges are dismissed or he's found "Not Guilty," he'll never again be able to instantly pass a NICS background check. As it will take several days (or many more) after a NICS check is submitted to receive a clearance for purchase, he'll never again be able to "instantly" purchase a firearm.
