DYER COUNTY, TN -
(WMC) A young girl, who claims she was standing up for her religious beliefs in the classroom, was suspended after breaking a class rule of saying "bless you" after a classmate sneezed. When Dyer County High School senior Kendra Turner said bless you to her classmate, she says her teacher told her that was for church.
"She said that we're not going to have godly speaking in her class and that's when I said we have a constitutional right," said Turner.
Turner says when she defended her actions, she was told to see an administrator. She says she finished the class period in in-school suspension.

She wasn’t specific enough. If she said “Allah Bless You” it would be ok.
And it will only get worse. Home school or at the very least church school.
She’s lucky she’s only being suspended. She should have stuck to “Allahu Akbar”.
Gazuntite!
Apparently, beheading works as a deterrent, so atheists might want to start thinking twice before acting stupidly.
Communists, baby killers, and homosexuals beware.
If teachers and the school system can’t get to know our constitutional rights, why do parents send their kids?
Separation of Church and State is to prevent the government from imposing their will on the religious. It is fro religious freedom
Duh! What people came over here to gain.
If any history rewriter wants to dispute that here, then please include a good reason people would come over here and build a new life in a primitive place without even familiar plant and anumal life.
Please, parents, re examine what the heck you are sending your kids to these places. It is the destruction of our country, no less
Now, if she would have said something like F***you, nobody would have even flinched ... how far down the drain we have gone.
no, the vast majority, I imagine, don’t have any sympathy for martyrs. THey likely think, geeze, push comes to shove, just convert, what’s the big deal?
Holy crap, I’m an atheist & I say ‘bless you’ after somebody sneezes, just to be polite! plus offering tissues, of course. It’s just an acknowledgement (for some of us), for pete’s sake. I can’t believe the hill of pettiness on which this butthole of a teacher has staked a claim.
Apparently she’s taught her students everything else there is to know.
What an ass.
I’d take this one with a grain of salt - it has a “too good to be true” smell to it. That said, if it is true, that school district is going to be in very deep chowder indeed.

It’s amazing anyone uses public schools anymore.
This one is not passing the smell test. “Bless you” is a very common response to sneezing and is more cultural custom than religious expression, the teacher is surely not ignorant of that. I also doubt a teacher would use the phrase “godly speaking” that is so stilted and contrived sounding. I think there is more to this story.
Oh the so called list of banned words shown on the white board are obviously part of an in class assignment. Notice phrase “bless you” comes under the heading of “Other Peer Expressions.”
I was fortunate enough to be able to send my son to a Christian school ... all twelve years. And it shows today.
He is a hard working individual with a strong Christian ethic and strongly pro-American. He is more than able to hold his own conversationally in both the religious and political realm.
Oh, by the way, did I mention, he is extremely conservative?
May God bless her!
see, if she would have said “f#ck you “ instead the teacher wouldn’t have sent her for a suspension.
The state religion is atheism
