One of the major factors contributing to the stressful environment for young black males (and other minority youth) continues to be the persistent pattern of police harassment, misconduct and brutality toward these youth. As Michelle Alexander has noted in her recent book, "The New Jim Crow," the United States has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world; this seems to be a deliberate strategy to deal with black males who are frequently viewed as a threat to the social order.

The unspoken major factor for creating a stressful environment for young black males is the lack of a father in the family.

If black males didn’t disproportionately commit crimes, they would not be disproportionately in prison. What are we missing? Are black men as a group more prone to criminal activity? And if so, wouldn’t you expect to see that population in prison???

That's what I first thought just reading the headline -- 50 years too late, and 22 trillion dollars wasted.

Blacks have been fed a line of crap from the federal government since 1965 and the “Great Society”. The same government ultimately responsible for the decimation of their families.

Government dependence has now been bread into generations of blacks on the public dole and we now see the results of this disaster in Ferguson and Chicago, Illinois among thousands of other areas.
