You park your SUV in a space and you and your wife prepare to do some shopping. You open the door and a 300 pound jerk is near to the vehicle and he slams your door shut and yells at you and tells you to leave, and says your kind don't belong around here. You get out of the vehicle, and the jerk pushes you back into it, punches you in the face a few times, and for good measure, punches your wife in the mouth, splitting her lip. He walks away and you get out of your car, and you have your concealed weapon in hand. The jerk is about 35 feet away. He sees you and angrily yells that he told to leave and he's going to f... you up! He charges at you, and you only have a couple of seconds to decide. What would YOU do?
You need to go get a Sig 226 and run one in the tube. I carry the Springfield Armory XDM-40 with one in the tube at all times. I don’t have the extra second or two to rack a weapon. I have CCL now for five years and never had to pull but if I do I have 17 ready to rock and roll.

The average CCW has 6 shots these days. It takes more than one to assure a stop of an aggressor, many more than one shot if the shooter is highly stressed. Tell me, what options do you have with a pop gun in your pocket?

If I read correctly, he attacked me in my car, at that point in time, a shot would be in self defense. He stopped the attack and walked away while I’m still in my car, shooting him at that point would not be self defense, it would be revenge.
The last point is the most complex. I’ve stepped out of my car with a weapon after he has walked away. At that point, I have become the aggressor. Anything he does to provoke me is just stupid on his part but I have become the aggressor. And I have put myself in the untenable position of either shooting him or standing there like a fool with a drawn weapon.
I do not doubt that a good prosecutor could make a jury believe a reasonable person would drive away given the opportunity. Regardless of how many names he called you, he stopped the attack before killing you. You did not deescalate, rather after simple assault ended, you in premeditation, drew a weapon and murdered the man. They would offer you a plea to manslaughter and your lawyer would recommend you take it.
A little different circumstance but a family friend got thrashed by bikers at a bar, he made it out to his car and was driving away when he saw his friend getting a beat down, he used deadly force to save his friend, he spent 18 years in prison for it.

If I were unarmed, the cops would just arrest both of us for fighting on the street and try to sort it out later, but as a holder of CC license, I’m required to deescalate the situation. I am held to a higher standard.
I know things vary by state but even under stand your ground, you are on thin ice if the beating stopped and you get out of your car with a gun. You have just done a little more than stand your ground.

Wrong. If I want to go into the store I’ve pulled up to, I’m not required to leave just because somebody assaulted me and then walked away. I can still get out of my car, with my legal gun, and head toward the store. If the assailant backtracks and is clearly about to assault me again, I get to shoot him. It’s in the rulebook.
Sure, I have the option of surrendering to his demands, but I’m not very good at that. I can never seem to master that whole useless little girl routine of whimpering “Oh me, oh my, what ever shall I do?”
If I am assaulted, I will defend myself. I don’t care if the assailant, you, and the whole of liberal society get offended. I’m not giving up. And I don’t have to.
If I’m on the jury, I will vote to acquit.

Only if my intent could be proven. I'm not going to hit the guy on purpose but if I swerve to avoid him and accidentally hit him in the process, I have witnesses proving the other person was being aggressive and belligerent and I was simply trying to get my family to safety.
Unfortunately, the legal system now only notices the race of the bully and the victim and chooses who was right based on ethnic sensibilities.
I’ve got a newsflash for you many many CCL’s carry full frame weapons. I have a Keltec PMR 30. 30 standing for 30 round magazine. Mr. GG2 has a .40 with 17 rounds. Besides if you can’t put somebody down with 6 shots you need more range time and you should not be carrying.
Israeli draw is OK if you practice, practice, practice but you are right. One in the tube is better. That’s why I passed on the Glock and went for weapon with a safety.
