>> live on Walden Pond

It’s gonna be crowded — hope you already reserved your campsite. Catch and release only. And it’s Mass — don’t even THINK about shooting anything. You’ll have to chase down your deer on foot and strangle it.

:-)

Quite chilling

4: And it shall be as in the days of Zebucadonnazauer that men shall vent their true feelings upon The Forum every 22 months.
5: And those expressions shall be of substance but lacking in true paragraphical form.
6: That they shall be virtually unnoticed for their true worth and merit, but taken seriously by only the elect of the Bubble Boys who, taking the substance to heart shall show manifest appreciation.
7: And thanks shall be given from the campsites of the righteous whose offering smoke of sacrifice will rise unto their bubble and cause a smog to be upon them.

I had an interesting discussion on FR about a week ago concerning Ebola with FReeper Cold Heat (www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3189808/posts)(sorry, I gave up on the HTML tag, back to HTML basics for me.)

This article states that a special ebola only hospital with 80 beds filled up in one day, with more patients being turned away before the day was even out. The author's conclusion that new cases are being badly underestimated tends to support my hypothesis that the rate of change in ebola infections/fatalities is still rising rapidly. But with no data I have not been able to graph the increase to see what kind of form it has (ie. arithmetic, geometric, exponential, etc.). Somebody knows this.

If the virus continues to spread, I believe that by next spring medical care providers will be forced to give up. The only thing to be done at that point is to shoot the infected and burn their bodies. Pretty gruesome stuff.

It would indeed, but it is most unlikely. Haemorrhagic fever viruses cannot tolerate direct sunlight for more than a few minutes, and require moisture to replicate. One thing to note: IF Mecca (say) or some other city with similar weather conditions, specifically, hot, sunny and dry, should see such an outbreak, you can very confidently wager that 1) the outbreak was induced and did not occur via natural transmission and 2) absent the invention of a vaccine or a cure, you will quite soon have a pandemic on your hands.

Fortunately, as yet, none of the idiots running the world have been able to weaponise this class of viruses.

I heard it was eating fruit bats that started the whole ebola thing in the first place!

Nah. Don't panic. Just pay attention. You can always panic later

Exactly. Usually though, those who pay attention know how to respond ahead of game on.

I have read THE HOT ZONE. If you get through the FIRST PARAGRAPH you can’t stop reading.

It is called “the hook”. Get them hooked on the first paragraph or page and you got them for the rest of the book.

And still, we have a FReeper who thinks we should send a private jet to rescue any American suffering with full blown Ebola and bring them back to America for treatment!

First, the reported death toll and actual growth in the disease, appears to be a drop in the bucket compared to numerous other fatal diseases running rampant in Africa, that we seem to not care about. Second, since no history is taught, nobody remembers the influenza epidemic of the early 1900’s that killed far more people than WWI. Really, it seems that unless Ebola, kills a movie star, starts infecting social media or interrupts service on our EBT cards, it can’t be that important.

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Hmmmmmm. Maybe we can get liberal movie stars to go to Africa? A concert for Ebola maybe?

Like lying about ObamaCare and the passing of the humanitarian crisis in Iraq, the media and the propagandist-in-chief are telling us everything is just fine with the Ebola outbreak. This president and his minions in the media truly believe they can manufacture reality and that will be no consequences, and the bulk of Americans will figure it out too late.
