A Travis County grand jury Friday indicted Gov. Rick Perry on two charges related to his
effort last year to force District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to resign after her
drunken driving arrest.

Grand jurors charged Perry, 64, with abuse of official capacity, a first-degree felony,
and coercion of a public servant, a third-degree felony. The first charge carries a
punishment of 5-99 years and a fine of up to $10,000. The second charge is punishable
by 2-10 years and a fine of up to $10,000.

The indictment stems from Perry’s threat last summer to withhold $7.2 million in state
money from Lehmberg’s office unless she step down – a threat he later carried out
by vetoing an appropriation in the state budget.

That “special prosecutor” must be the devil’s spawn that he could come out with a straight face and pretend this is a serious indictment.

This world is getting pretty dark when being the most wicked is considered the chief hope.

From Hot Air article: “Before you pass judgement on Rick Perry”

This is the dash cam footage from the patrol car that pulled over Travis County D.A., Rosemary Lehmberg for DWI.

This is the result of a liberal drunk wanting revenge for her own misbehavior. When District Attny Rosemary Lehmberg was arrested for DWI and tested THREE TIMES above the legal limit she was convicted, served time and had her license suspended.

Rick Perry called for her resignation and said he would exercise his right to veto funding requests from her if she didn't go. This is payback from a slob of woman and activists who took the charges to a liberal judge.

It is designed to keep the threat of indictment alive long enough to end any serious run against Hillary. It probably won't happen.

OK, McCrum issued an indictment because Lehmberg, who oversees the same unit that led the investigation against former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was handed a ethics complaint (no actual evidence of a crime) from the left-leaning Texans for Public Justice government watchdog group (not LEO).

Perry's veto was made in accordance with the veto authority afforded to every governor under the Texas Constitution.

Gov. Perry gave fair warning to the "Public Integrity Unit".

But... because he threatened to use his veto before actually doing so in an attempt to pressure Lehmberg to quit so the lefties claim that Gov. Perry's actual act of integrity is a crime.

He vetoed $7.5 million over two years for the public integrity unit run by the office of Travis County Democratic District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg. Mizz Lehmberg was convicted of drunken driving, but refused Governor Perry's calls (for Lehmberg) to resign.

The state's Public Integrity Unit operates out of her office.

Perry said, “Despite the otherwise good work (of) the Public Integrity Unit’s employees, I cannot in good conscience support continued state funding for an office with statewide jurisdiction at a time when the person charged with ultimate responsibility of that unit has lost the public’s confidence.”

For the benefit of non-Texans, they need to know that the Travis County District Attorney has legal jurisdiction over every elected official in the state -- including those elected to federal office.

Travis County is home to the capitol, Austin, and generally populated by moonbats -- government workers, university faculty, techies, artists & musicians & dopers and their hangers-on. It's San Francisco-on-the-Colorado.

As a consequence, they elect far left local politicians -- and their DA happens to exert statewide power. And they have no trouble finding a grand jury that's ready to indict a Republican for chewing gum on the wrong side of his mouth.

Tom Delay was one example. Even the inoffensive Kay Bailey Hutchison was a target of some trumped up charges that were dropped one second after the court was gaveled to order.

Lehmberg's action against Perry is nothing more than partisan harassment designed to complicate his presidential run.

Just a bunch of contrived BS like they did to Tom DeLay. It will come to nothing. That bunch in Austin is pure slime.

I believe in my heart this country has already fallen. I would never in my worst dreams have thought we would elect a Marxist, who is likely a Muslim and almost certainly not who he claims to be.

That such a corrupt official could get by with this garbage only adds to the disease which has gripped America.

Maybe the nation can be saved but I can’t see any way as long as the crooked media control most every form for the dissemination of information.

Perry has Veto power regardless of what the Dems want or say.

There's a large movement by relocated Californians who want Texas to turn Blue.
Yes, they brought their crap here expecting a different result.

they need to remove their authority in the next legislative session and move it to the State Level. The GOP should have the votes for this.
