Nearly a week after a police officer shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., police on Friday identified the officer as Darren Wilson.
Wilson is a six-year veteran of the Ferguson police with no disciplinary record, Ferguson police chief Thomas Jackson said at a news conference on Friday morning.
Jackson provided few other details about Wilson at the news conference and did not take any questions. He said that Wilson had been responding to a call shortly before noon on Saturday when there was a 911 call regarding a “strong-arm robbery” at a convenience store.
A description of a possible suspect was given over the radio, saying this person was walking toward the QuickTrip convenience store in Ferguson. An incident report handed out by police on Friday labeled Brown as a suspect in the convenience store robbery, which involved the theft of some Swisher Sweets cigars.
Wilson left the call he had been responding to and encountered Brown on Canfield Drive at 12:01 p.m., Jackson said.

Throughout this whole thing, I keep thinking, if this were a white kid, I highly doubting whites would be out in the streets protesting and causing riots, let alone judging before getting the facts.

I never thought of comparing them to bees but it’s spot on. The male bees don’t work. In fact, the only reason for their existence is to impregnate the queen. And as many of them as can get in on it. You could call them the “bay-bee daddy”. Then they disappear. Bees die but .....

no... the store was a mom & pop style store near the QT but some thug on the street probably got it wrong and burned the wrong store down. We all know what good listeners thugs are and they always wait until they get the facts straight. The mom & pop store will probably end up burned down by the thugs eventually. I grew up in North County of STL and know mentality of these aholes.

I think it was reported that Brown was headed in the direction of the QT when he was ‘stopped’.
I disagree. If he were black the police MUST know (by now at least) the quickest way to diffuse this situation would be to release his color as well as his name. So they would’ve done so in some way already, if he were black.
They could have phrased it this way for example, “Darren Wilson, an African-American currently serving on the Fergeson police force...”
It would be foolish of them to keep his race under wraps if he is indeed black. Foolish and irresponsible.
I mean a 6% chance he’s black.
Guy’s it would probably be quicker to identify the three black officers names on the Ferguson PD than to find a picture of Wilson.
