well - they can certainly cater to 2% of the population (my guess) without my dollars.....cause they aren't going to see my Xmas $$ or any other spending on my part

Businesses should be without politics or opinions - provide the service and keep your opinions to yourself.

Someone could make the argument that they are acting politically on behalf of dems and a portion of their profits seen as a gift in kind for promoting a political agenda.

Target is on the way out

Target's stock is down over 17% since this time last year.

Meanwhile, Walmart stock is down less than 6% and Amazon stock is up almost 9% over the same period.

Yes, this happened last week. My purchasing habits have already changed.

I have gone “JC Penney” on the Target stores in my area.

Not.
One.
Single.
Penny.

Yes, one could - but according to Open Secrets the majority of their political contributions go to Republicans. So this move leaves me scratching my head.

The sad tragedy, though, is that not very many customers put the kind of informed effort into their shopping that you or I do.

I also Amend my earlier statements, Target is pandering in an attempt to save their own business.

I’m wondering why they’re even bothering, as judges all over the country are deciding on behalf of deviancy, regardless of what voters said in many states.

Good to hear. That is exactly what I’m doing and it started here.

Is there an organized boycott against these leftist corporations? I don’t give them my money, but this would be much more effective as an organized campaign. I feel as though we are letting the left walk away with these issues. We need a new Phyllis Schlafly on this and similar issues. One righteous leader could turn this all back.

I love the idea but I'm not aware of one "leader" out there who could effectively take up this mantle and rally the majority to the cause. Rush? Nope, he's an entertainer with sponsors. Hannity, not gonna happen. Religious leaders? Not many are up for the fight anymore it seems. All we can do now that Target has declared itself is perhaps follow God's Word as related by Paul, 1 Cor 19- 21;

19 What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20 No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

Target said it has signed a court brief backing marriage equality in a pending court case and publicly declared its support of gay marriage, a move similar to those taken by Starbucks, Intel and Apple.

Is there a complete list of these large, visible suicidal businesses?

After many years, I have grown weary of the "preaching," forced sharing of "social consciousness and self-importance" of :

Starbucks.

Never was a fan of Apple. Never have and never will own one of their products; even as a gift.

As for the rest, I will choose the least obnoxious and vocal "public" corporation or company providing the product or service I need (not merely 'want'.)

I lived through the birth of the pro-sodomy culture; back when they whined for simply a "little tolerance." I've had it with their disgusting continuing "little tolerance."

There is no law that can ever be 'passed' that can compel me to "accept" them. Period.

Well, it ain't working.

Even EBT won't last forever.

pandering to 2% of the population?

I don’t think that is a good strategy

The even sadder tragedy is that they put even less informed effort into voting, which is why we have President Obamanation.

In 1972 after the marriage and society destroying "Equal Rights Amendment" had been passed overwhelmingly through congress (354-24 in the House and 84-8 in the Senate) and already been rapidly ratified by 28 of the required 38 state legislatures, a largely unknown Phyllis Schlafly led a movement which not only succeeded in stopping it, but caused four states to rescind their ratifications. Her movement was also able to get the Republican Party to remove its support for the ERA's passage and largely turn the public against it.

I think that a similar grass-roots effort could stop and turn back this most recent attack on marriage and society. I pray the God will provide a worthy leader for us to fight this good fight.

It’s not just a question of EBT. Retailing makes low margin profits in general. My general observation is that appealing to certain groups is a loss anyways. You’re tryin to appeal to what amounts to 2 percent or less of the population to compensate where you supposedly fail to appeal to a larger majority. Combine that with the fact that it’s not unique for a business to offer benefits, and it doesn’t amount to much. Flaunting politics is a poor game. Like the quote from Michael Jordan, earlier in the posts, it’s wise to keep your politics on a low tone, and appeal to a broad patronage.

“Republicans buy sneakers too.” -Michael Jordan

It’s about time. The ERA was an early Trojan Horse for what we’re dealing with now.

Seeing how much it has already “helped” churches and businesses. It’s far from being a good marketing strategy.

Why do major retailers go out of their way to support liberal causes such as homosexual marriage? Why do they support any social/political causes at all?

Mark of the beast. They've taken it. They've let us know.
