Get rid of the backseat car seats and get the kiddies up front and see these deaths go down.
Two fruits. Maybe more to this story.
AMEN! Every time I read an account of a tragedy like this I think the same thing! Nanny state government in an effort to protect babies from injury in a car accident created a situation where things like this could happen.
Yours is a good idea - then there will be NO excuse.
But I’m sure the Nanny State will come up with a reason why not.
I agree with you 100% !
How dare you say something that actually makes sense.
Eliminate one risk, more serious injuries and death to a child in a car seat in the front due to airbags and the dash and push the risk elsewhere. I had two children who because of work schedule I transported at least half the time, now I had forgotten articles such as diaper bags or clothing, but I never ever forgot my children.
That’s what I was thinking.
I think it was the feds who pushed the “kids in the back” thing...
As I parent, I know life gets hectic, but priority one of being a parent is caring for your child. It's one thing if you (the general you, not specifically you) are at a store, you turn your back for one second and your kid runs off and you don't know where he is.
To forget a child is in your car on a hot day for several hours is at minimum is negligence and abuse. I am sorry for the pain these parents feel when their children die because they accidentally left their kids in hot cars for hours...but there is no excuse.
But you cannot blame the government for this. Things happens, and sure it can slip your mind for a minute or two, but any longer than that, as a parent, you failed.
I'm not saying put these people away for life, but damn, if a person's child dies because he or she didn't remember that the child was baking away in a hot car for several hours...that's criminal and not just an oopsie. This can't be blamed on government regulations of where a child should be seated in the car. Cars are not huge spaces with multiple quarters to check. If your child is with you and you forget them to the point that he or she dies, there is no excuse.
BS. The only remedy is concerned parents who care about their children. As an adult, your only real responsibility is that child you brought into the world. If you cannot live up to that responsibility you should be gelded.
