Why is it still an issue though? I thought that everyone in WI (except the union bosses) was demonstrably better off since it happened anyway, so they wouldn’t be complaining about it.

I’ve heard Madison described as “100 sq. miles of city, surrounded by reality”.

It’s still an issue because unions don’t like losing, even if they ARE better off for losing.

It’s not about results, it’s about power.

That’s the problem. Unions can’t have people realizing that they are better off without them.

That's all it takes for a suit.

The WI state employees (e.g. teachers, DOT, DOA, etc.) certainly took a hit, as they have to pay some of the medical insurance now.

Keep in mind that the suit was initiated right after it was passed. Once you unleash one of these things, it is next to impossible to stop.

knittnmom ,
THree times I’ve been to Madison Wis., lovely place as is nearly all of Wisconsin.
Couple things I fail to understand,
Why so lib in Milwaukee and Madison?
Why is Walker even in his re-election bid when his policies obviously have been great for the people there?
One more thing, why pubs on two or three corners at many intersections? They seem to be everywhere there like gas stations in L.A. of Banks in Miami.

Now that’s it’s “settled law”, I’m sure the lefties will stop complaining about it.

Part of the answer to your question lies in the fact that Chicago is so close and in fact, one can take a train from Chicago to Madison...

The ferals that inhabit Chicago have counterparts and families in Madison....many of them anyway. Same mindset and “gimme”/I’m entitled/victim culture.

The area varies, but that's the general gist of it. Though most just leave out the "of city". Consider - Paul Soglin, who was a law student at the University of Wisconsin, became an outspoken opponent to the Vietnam War, visited Castro in Cuba, has been elected mayor not just once, but three times, winning re-election any time he ran.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Soglin

Additionally, we are graced with the presence of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. I often feel that I'm behind enemy lines, even when I attend church.

Ah, you're forgetting the political campaign recipients of the union dues and assessments.

Probably people that get paid for running campaigns, and the downstream media outlets, too.
